Perhaps that attitude is part of the cultural differences among countries

I really don't know why it took me so long to blog this. It's become one of my favorite quotes since the time I read it. Yeah, it's hard to shoe-horn in there but more and more there's a call for it as rampant ethnocentrism and other government-fostered hates take on fresh life. Don't let them !! You have choices !! Be kind. I
hope that lots of you reading this will see yourself in Haakensmoen, and I wonder; why don't these stories make it more often? I think I know why. They really want us to believe we need to hate each other harder. That works for them so corporations can rule the world. It's WE THE PEOPLE NOT WE THE CORPORATIONS

I cried the first time I read this story and I clipped away the above and below quote which you will soon read because I thought it was so beautiful. Especially from a sportswriter ---

I wrote Mr. Romano shortly after the story was published because I couldn't find it AND because I wanted that quote; I had lost it. He did never reply but that's okay as I finally found where I had saved the quote.

Kindness is POWER and don't you ever forget it. When you can react kindly to people no matter what --- that's real strength. It's EASY to do otherwise. It's easy to access your lizard brain and reach for your first impulsive reaction. But, why?

Never mistake kindness for weakness.

I guess because I have always been so kind people tend to think of me as a pushover. Please refer to the preceding and following sentence:

Never mistake kindness for weakness.

And here's something else from American Wisdom: Looks like he's made his own youtube to go along with his song. I'm entranced. It's an awesome song (composer, producer, writer, artist, publicist)
Anyway, here's the youtube. You'll like it. I heard he has an album coming out.

This is kinda interesting between Rosie and Elizabeth. I never watch the view but now I like Rosie a little better. Peoples' voices are very important to me and I don't like Elizabeth's voice. EEEEK. How did she ever make it in media with that voice? And Okay??? every minute or so?? hmmmm. Anyway, I think the bit that accompanies it is a stitch. LOL

Get Free Internet for EVERYONE

The FCC is on the verge of turning over a large chunk of the public airwaves to the same giant phone and cable companies that control high-speed Internet access for more than 96 percent of connected American homes.
This public "spectrum" could revolutionize the Internet in America. Its wireless signal passes through concrete buildings and over mountains; it can connect tens of million of Americans who are being passed over by Internet providers like AT&T, Verizon and Comcast.
Don't let the FCC give away our wireless Internet to these price-gouging giants. The FCC deadline is fast approaching. Act now:
Tell the FCC: Use Our Airwaves for the Public Good
And while you're at it: Help American Wisdom save Net Radio. It's going to be gone July 15th unless we do something about it now. Please.

Broadcast television channels will soon vacate these airwaves when they go digital by 2009. If used right, these public airways will revolutionize the ways we connect to laptops, cell phones, PDAs, music players and other mobile Internet devices. They can deliver an open Internet into your house without the need for a telephone wire or cable modem.

Phone and cable lobbyists are pressuring the FCC to sell companies like AT&T, Verizon and Comcast our airwaves so they can horde spectrum and stifle competitive and cheaper alternatives to their established networks.
This would be a disaster. After years of phone and cable company control over Internet access, the United States has fallen to 16th in the world in high-speed Internet rankings, with few choices and some of the highest prices for the slowest speeds in the world. We will continue this decline as long as we let AT&T, Verizon and Comcast dictate the terms of Internet access for the majority of Americans.
These phone and cable giants refuse to open their networks to competitive applications and services. They lobby Washington to stifle new innovations like Internet phone service and to destroy Net Neutrality, the one principle that protects equal opportunity and free choice on the Web.
We need to end their stranglehold and demand a better Internet for everyone:
Tell the FCC: Keep the New Internet Open to All
With open networks, the rest of the world has rapidly adopted high-speed, Internet platforms for education, economic innovation, creativity and civic participation. Countries like South Korea, Japan, France and Canada have leapfrogged the United States and now offer faster Internet connections at far lower prices.
It's time we caught up.
Act now and help clear the path for a technology that will deliver faster, more open and affordable Internet for everyone.
Thank you,
Timothy KarrCampaign DirectorFree Presshttp://action.freepress.net/ct/O1sliLM1MQmV/
1. Most people haven't heard about this issue yet. It's really important that we spread the word and get people involved. After you send your comment to the FCC, tell at least five friends to take action.
2. For more information about what's at stake with our public airwaves, read these recent articles in Wired Magazine, the Los Angeles Times, Forbes Magazine and MyDD.

Telling lies over good soldiers' graves

May 30, 2007 Memorial Day is a lovely day in America, a day of reunion in small towns, where people drive up to the cemetery on Monday morning and file in, old-timers carrying lawn chairs, and even if you've missed a few years, people will come over and shake your hand and thank you for coming. You don't have to dress up or support the war in Iraq. You just come, and afterward there's hot dogs and potato salad at the Legion Club.
It's the last patriotic holiday that still means something, and it persists year after year despite the wooden rituals and leaden speeches. In Central Park on Monday, an admiral with a chestful of ribbons gripped the lectern and read his lines, and the line of his that got quoted was, "Their sacrifice has enabled us to enjoy the things that we, I think in many cases, take for granted," which does not ring, does it? No.
"Their sacrifice has enabled us to enjoy the things that many of us take for granted" would have been better, but still it's nothing people will take home with them and ponder. How about, "Their noble sacrifice has enabled us to see the ignobility of the leadership that sent them to their deaths"? How about "We have sacrificed enough of our young men and women and it is time to bring them home to enjoy the things that the rest of us take for granted"?

The Current Occupant drove over the bridge to Arlington and spoke at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a site of powerful reverence, and his speechwriter, in a hurry to finish and enjoy his weekend, gave him "From their deaths must come a world where the cruel dreams of tyrants and terrorists are frustrated and foiled -- where our nation is more secure from attack, and where the gift of liberty is secured for millions who have never known it," a line cobbled together from scrap lumber. Shades of "the last full measure of devotion" and "we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain" but made from different cloth. The reputation of the Gettysburg Address remains secure.
Dishonesty makes for poor rhetoric and that's what has gutted this beautiful holiday. The ideas it celebrates -- that our young men and women did their duty and died in defense of their country -- are simply not true. Vietnam was lost and it didn't matter to the security of the United States. Saigon fell and life in the States went on without a blink. And since the end of selective service, these honored dead are somebody else's sons and daughters, not ours -- one good reason why there is so little protest of this war: If the Army was conscripting our children to go to Baghdad, the Occupant's approval rating would be in the low teens.
Memorial Day survives on the faint memories of World War II, the Good War. Those old Legion and VFW guys are the ones who keep it going. Some come in fatigues, some ride in golf carts past the rows of tombstones and the urns with fresh gardenias planted in them, and the Boy Scouts line up, and the auxiliary ladies in blue hand out little American flags. There is a distant HEE-YUP and the crowd shushes and the honor guard marches in, left, right, left, right, left, right, and Old Glory is raised on the flagpole, and we all recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The names of the dead are read and wreaths of poppies are placed and maybe somebody recites "In Flanders Fields":

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow,
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky,
The larks, still bravely singing, fly,
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

Everyone is a little stiff and self-consciously reverent. And then comes the speech. That's the problem. It is time for the truth to be told and we cannot bring ourselves to tell it. Good men and women were sacrificed to the vanity of politicians and generals. It is a miserable business to tell lies over the graves of good soldiers, but we do, and then we all sing "America the Beautiful," including the verse about heroes proved in liberating strife, and the honor guard fires its rifle salute and somebody presses Play on a boombox and we hear "Taps" and the guard turns about-face and marches off and we walk away, thoughtfully, and there is much to think about.

Why Are We Here?

A Soldier in Iraq Asks in Despair: Why Are We Here? By Donald C. Hudson, Jr. Clarksville, Tennessee Online

Tuesday 29 May 2007
After watching his roommate fatally wounded in a roadside bombing, an Army private wonders why the lives of good men are being lost when the Iraqis pose no threat to us and don't want us there.
Baghdad - My name is Donald Hudson Jr. I have been serving our country's military actively for the last three years. I am currently deployed to Baghdad on Forward Operating Base Loyalty, where I have been for the last four and a half months.
I came here as part of the first wave of this so called "troop surge", but so far it has effectively done nothing to quell insurgent violence. I have seen the rise in violence between the Sunni and Shiite. This country is in the middle of a civil war that has been on going since the seventh century.
Why are we here when this country still to date does not want us here? Why does our president's personal agenda consume him so much, that he can not pay attention to what is really going on here?
Let me tell you a story. On May 10, I was out on a convoy mission to move barriers from a market to a joint security station. It was no different from any other night, except the improvised explosive device that hit our convoy this time, actually pierced through the armor of one of our trucks. The truck was immediately engulfed in flames, the driver lost control and wrecked the truck into one of the buildings lining the street. I was the driver of the lead truck in our convoy; the fifth out of six was the one that got hit. All I could hear over the radio was a friend from the sixth truck screaming that the fifth truck was burning up real bad, and that they needed fire extinguishers real bad. So I turned my truck around and drove through concrete barriers to get to the burning truck as quickly as I could. I stopped 30 meters short of the burning truck, got out and ripped my fire extinguisher out of its holder, and ran to the truck. I ran past another friend of mine on the way to the burning truck, he was screaming something but I could not make it out. I opened the driver's door to the truck and was immediately overcome by the flames. I sprayed the extinguisher into the door, and then I saw my roommate's leg. He was the gunner of that truck. His leg was across the driver's seat that was on fire and the rest of his body was further in the truck. My fire extinguisher died and I climbed into the truck to attempt to save him. I got to where his head was, in the back passenger-side seat. I grabbed his shoulders and attempted to pull him from the truck out the driver's door. I finally got him out of the truck head first. His face had been badly burned. His leg was horribly wounded. We placed him on a spine board and did our best to attempt "Buddy Aid". We heard him trying to gasp for air. He had a pulse and was breathing, but was not responsive. He was placed into a truck and rushed to the "Green Zone", where he died within the hour. His name was Michael K. Frank. He was 36 years old. He was a great friend of mine and a mentor to most of us younger soldiers here.

Now I am still here in this country wondering why, and having to pick up the pieces of what is left of my friend in our room. I would just like to know what is the true reason we are here? This country poses no threat to our own. So why must we waste the lives of good men on a country that does not give a damn about itself? Most of my friends here share my views, but do not have the courage to say anything.
----------
Donald C. Hudson Jr. is a private assigned to the 1st Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division.
Please answer that question and I will forward all of your answers to him. You can send them privately through email or you can post them in comments. He asked a valid question. There is NO reason we are in Iraq. They were NOT involved in Sept. 11, 2001. This young guy is probably now in danger for speaking up. Can anyone tell him the truth? Not the usual rhetoric??
Donald, I hope that someone can get the resident to answer this but Cindy Sheehan spent years trying. I guess it's your turn. Come live in the ditch outside his house. Maybe he'll have more respect for a grieving soldier than a grieving mother. I just don't know.

Can someone please answer Donald with a REAL REAL REAL answer?
WHAT THE HELL are we doing in Iraq?
This morning Bush said he envisions being in Iraq (yeah like you'll ever find HIM there) for fifty years just like South Korea. Wow, isn't he a visionary?? I guess that's why all the billions for the largest embassy in the world and also the pallets of cash that disappeared into Iraq.
(Wait, pallets of cash --- now that IS beginning to sound like a place Bush and Cheney would want to be)
But, forget all that for now and just answer Donald's question, if you will. Admit to him that there is no REAL reason for war in Iraq. It's a BUSH agenda being served. After all, he's supposedly fighting for your freedom; the least you can do is respect him and answer this simple question.
UPDATE: Here's a stellar idea from Blast OFF, who is only like the smartest guy in the world
and who also gives credit to the other folks who brought this to our attention.
Let's invoke the 25th Amendment. Let's figure out how to get this done. He really is NOT capable of running this country, his ranch or even making speeches. His warranty is bad, maybe.
Please keep shining your headlights and sign the petition and help a country out here. Help this young man and all the other men and women with him come home safely.

a G.I.'s life is priceless

"An image haunts me:
proceeding across a battlefield,
my father now dead,
I am up front to draw the fire.
I look back,
and one of those I was to protect has fallen."

The above is for Andrew Bacevich. It's okay. It will never be okay. They were only here for the time we had them. Thank GOD we know how to live so none of it was wasted. (thinking of you)

From Andrew Bacevich: (see my below post for the rest of this)

He received letters blaming him and his anti-war writing for his death. He writes, "This may seem a vile accusation to lay against a grieving father. But in fact, it has become a staple of American political discourse, repeated endlessly by those keen to allow President Bush a free hand in waging his war."

WHAT KIND OF DEMOCRACY IS THIS?'
A GRIEVING FATHER WANTS TO KNOW

By: Justin Raimondo
The family of Andrew Bacevich, a 27-year-old first lieutenant who was recently killed in an ambush north of Baghdad, doesn't want to see its beloved son and brother turned into an impersonal symbol of a tragic and unnecessary war: they want him to be remembered as a special person, "a great-looking kid with an infectious smile," as one of his close friends put it at his funeral service.

He was, by all accounts, a unique man of many talents, who aspired to join the Army in spite of restrictions against asthma sufferers. Young Bacevich was forced to leave ROTC at Boston University because of this, but he worked hard to stay in shape and ran the Boston Marathon in 3 hours and 35 minutes. After graduating from BU in 2003, he worked as an aide to a state Republican legislator, and in 2004 he became a legislative liaison and analyst on the staff of Gov. Mitt Romney.

He finally achieved his dream of serving his country when the asthma restrictions were relaxed. He joined in 2005 as a private and was admitted to Officers Candidate School – which he knew would mean deployment to Iraq in very short order. He went in October and led a platoon in the Third Brigade Combat Team, First Cavalry Division.

He was, by all accounts, anything but a tragic figure, full of the life-force and an inspiration and joy to those who knew him. Yet this very quality underscores the tragedy of his demise and inevitably leads us to raise the questions his father, Andrew J. Bacevich, a retired Army colonel who served in Vietnam and now teaches at Boston University, asked in an interview with National Public Radio: "One of the things that I've been really struggling with over the last several days is to try to understand my responsibility for my own son's death."

Bacevich, a prominent conservative critic of the war who has deemed the invasion "a catastrophic failure," thought his responsibility was to voice his opposition to the war, but, he asks:

"What kind of democracy is this when the people do speak and the peoples voice is unambiguous – but nothing happens?"

It is a question that needs to be addressed to the leadership of both parties, not only the Republicans – particularly Mitt "Two, Three, Many Guantanamos" Romney – but also Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

Memorial Day orators will say that a G.I.'s life is priceless. Don't believe it. I know what value the U.S. government assigns to a soldier's life: I've been handed the check

Andy and Andrew Bacevich and Family

I posted about the sad loss of Andy Bacevich previously:here and here and I see the path opening wide for the never-ending followup on this young life lost in this illegal, illicit, immoral war.
His father, Andrew Bacevich, has not slowed his roll, a fact that I deeply admire. I am in awe of the strength and courage of this man, and wish I had known him to draw inspiration from when I needed him. But, it's working now, too. In fact, I may publicize his writings whenever I find them. Certainly he has been a vocal opponent to the militarization of America and who would know better than he, considering he has been in the machine himself?

I don't want his words to get lost in the sad death of his son because they are too monumental not to read OVER AND OVER again, until you have them half-committed to memory.

I don't want his son's life and the sad loss of same to be lost in the war-dissenter his father is.

Each a separate person. Andy Bacevich, Jr. was also writing that he did not believe the war was a good effort, shortly before he was killed

The father's words were just as weighty before. He is right about so much; seeing America through the clear eyes of someone who has been on both sides of the block (just like me)

Here is his article in the Washington Post. It's very important reading. I'll put some excerpts below, but the article is only a page and a half.

Excerpt: Among the many ways to answer that question, (see the article) mine was this one: As my son was doing his utmost to be a good soldier, I strove to be a good citizen. As a citizen, I have tried since Sept. 11, 2001, to promote a critical understanding of U.S. foreign policy

EXCERPT: Not for a second did I expect my own efforts to make a difference. But I did nurse the hope that my voice might combine with those of others -- teachers, writers, activists and ordinary folks -- to educate the public about the folly of the course on which the nation has embarked. I hoped that those efforts might produce a political climate conducive to change. I genuinely believed that if the people spoke, our leaders in Washington would listen and respond.

This, I can now see, was an illusion.

The people have spoken, and nothing of substance has changed. The November 2006 midterm elections signified an unambiguous repudiation of the policies that landed us in our present predicament. But half a year later, the war continues, with no end in sight. Indeed, by sending more troops to Iraq (and by extending the tours of those, like my son, who were already there), Bush has signaled his complete disregard for what was once quaintly referred to as "the will of the people."

EXCERPT: Money buys access and influence. Money greases the process that will yield us a new president in 2008. When it comes to Iraq, money ensures that the concerns of big business, big oil, bellicose evangelicals and Middle East allies gain a hearing. By comparison, the lives of U.S. soldiers figure as an afterthought.

>EXCERPT: Money maintains the Republican/Democratic duopoly of trivialized politics. It confines the debate over U.S. policy to well-hewn channels. It preserves intact the cliches of 1933-45 about isolationism, appeasement and the nation's call to "global leadership." It inhibits any serious accounting of exactly how much our misadventure in Iraq is costing. It ignores completely the question of who actually pays. It negates democracy, rendering free speech little more than a means of recording dissent.

His writing was always important; his books are important. His view couldn't be more sharpened.

Thank you, Mr. Bacevich. It never ceases to amaze me the voices that have risen up in defense of our country and our America and our American lives and others' around the worlds. You are a good and steadfast human being. Thank you for loving your fellow human beings and this country enough to speak up and speak out.

You are serving your country very well. Your son would remain proud of you. You are a fine soldier, a good American, a better Professor and a voice inside the establishment evoking irrefutable common sense.

The value of this is .... inestimable.

http://afterdowningstreet.org/node/23077

By David Swanson

On Tuesday, Maine became the 11th state legislature to introduce a resolution to petition for the impeachment of President George Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. Maine joins Vermont (where the Senate has already passed such a resolution), California , Hawaii , Illinois , Minnesota , Missouri , New Mexico , Texas , Washington , and Wisconsin . Already 14 state Democratic parties have not just introduced but passed resolutions supporting impeachment. So have 85 cities and towns, either by public vote, or by a vote of the local government, or both. Details are available here: http://www.impeachpac.org/resolutions-list

The introduction of Maine 's resolution followed months of activism by the citizens of the state, http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/me , which culminated in a rally on Tuesday at the State House, where they presented a citizens' petition bearing 11,000 signatures.

Protesters At Statehouse Call For Bush Impeachment

Last Updated: 5/29/2007 9:27:37 PM

AUGUSTA ( NEWS CENTER ) -- A group made up of peace activists, lawyers, and leading democrats are calling on the Maine House of Representatives to pass a resolution in support of the impeachment of President Bush. Portland Democrat Ethan Strimling says he will submit a bill calling for the legislature to support a resolution calling for the impeachment of President Bush. Strimling says the signatures gathered throughout Maine supporting the measure should get the attention of his colleagues. The signatures were brought to the Speaker of the House's office and to Senate President Beth Edmonds after protesters held a loud rally outside the statehouse Tuesday. Petitions with the signatures were also delivered to the Maine offices of Congressmen Allen and Michaud.

The Portland Press Herald reports:

Strimling introduces bill on behalf of impeachment movement
By Ann S. Kim Portland Press Herald ( Maine )

AUGUSTA — Sen. Ethan Strimling, D-Portland, today introduced a bill on behalf of the movement to impeach President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. The impeachment effort in Maine wants the state Legislature to pass a resolution calling for impeachment investigations. The movement has collected more than 11,000 petition signatures in support of the effort. Activists rallied in front of the State House today before delivering the signatures to the offices of Senate President Beth Edmonds, D-Freeport, and House Speaker Glenn Cummings, D-Portland. Strimling said he doesn't know whether impeachment is warranted but that he wants the debate to take plac

Information about Maine 's impeachment effort is available at http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/me and at http://www.maineimpeach.org

The Chair of Maine Lawyers for Democracy, John Kaminski, spoke at Tuesday's rally. Maine Lawyers for Democracy is a statewide group of over 70 lawyers who have called for impeachment. They have circulated to legislators a detailed position paper calling for impeachment.

http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/sites/afterdowningstreet.org/files/maine.pdf

They cited the deceptions used to justify starting the Iraq War, the illegality of the War under international treaties adopted by the United States , and illegal wiretapping of U.S. citizens. In other words, Maine Lawyers for Democracy cited not just impeachable offenses but also specific violations of law, as did – to an even greater extent – Congressman John Conyers' report released last year on the same topic: http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/downloads/crisis/summary.pdf

This renders quite odd the Portland Press Herald's editorial on Tuesday opposing impeachment on the undefended and baldly asserted ground that no crimes have been committed:

pervert rule of law

Maybe it's just the mood I'm in today but this seems like a mighty bold statement from her considering her boss is the biggest pervert-er of the rule of law who has ever existed to my knowledge in this country. The story has nothing to do with my laughing at her making this statement. Why, she sleeps on the same block as George and she's never noticed he perverts the rule of law a number of times a day????????????? So, at first you think she is stupid and then you see the way she smiles at him. Gad.
Rice says Iran spying charges pervert rule of law

Bush passes laws and after he passes them he quietly issues signing statements which state that the laws are nothing to do with HIM and usurping the right to interpret them as HE sees fit because yknow he's the decider and all.

He AINT the boss of me.

You say you want a revolution ...........FREE AIRWAVES....

Subject: You say you want a revolution...
Hi,
I just learned about a really important issue, and signed a petition about it. The federal government is on the verge of turning over a huge portion of our public airwaves to companies like AT&T, Verizon, and Comcast--who will use them for private enrichment instead of the public good.
These newly available airwaves are a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to revolutionize Internet access -- beaming high-speed signals to every park bench, coffee shop, workplace, and home in America. Phone and cable companies don't want this competition to their Internet service--they'd rather purchase the airwaves at auction and sit on them.
You can sign the petition I signed here - urging the government to make sure the public airwaves are used for the public good:

Kudos to Cindy Sheehan for your service to your country

UPDATE: William Rivers Pitt
He totally scores for better writing and he's met her more times than me ...

Ms. Sheehan,

With all due respect and gratitude for your service to Americans and others and the love you have for America: Please don't lose heart.I still have the first article where you managed to garner some MSM attention. You gave this country what it needed.

It's NOT the Americans, it's not thia country, don't blame her !!! It's that you see too much of the other people. For each ten of them there are THIRTY like us with your picture and clippings displayed over our desk. You called us out to end this war and we are trying.

We know you're not giving up and we are not, either.

Take a well-deserved break. I didn't know how you were ever able to keep it up as you did and I think that your actions deserve the utmost respect. Just ignore the rest of the stuff. They're so desperate to keep their income rolling in that they will try to shout down anyone and their loud, rancorous voices sound like twelve while they suck in those who don't think as hard as they should.

Don't forget you got US started. Take a break and come back strong. It's still your baby. Like it or not.

That's just the way it is ...............

Oh, and it doesn't MATTER the number of folks out there at Camp Crawford in Texas; it MATTERS that you are THERE. That you are there is what keeps everything ticking. You earned your spot in history and george earned his.

You are taking a lot of heat and a lot of us out here are taking a lot of heat TOO. We just don't get a chance to communicate it to each other.

I'd proudly hang tight to that spot in this history of America, Cindy. In the end, it's YOU who will be remembered. george will be a sidebar in a travesty that almost overcame America. But, it's NOT going to happen.

Take your break. Then take whoever is left and head back to work. I love you.

Oh, and for you guys sitting comfy in your living rooms reading this and pointing the fingers --- would you please do something for a change? Don't just stand and observe, collect phone #'s and photos and self-promote. You know, hold a sign, belong, get real ....

You dragged all this shit to America you might as well have just stayed put. What's the difference now?
Is this what you were after?

Oh and finally .... THIS PAGE is so important to read that I hope you manage to find your way there. Read the top story all the way through and look around at those weird ass people some of you think are friends. uhhhh nah.
Also, then go back to the original link and read that entire page ....

And, Ms. Sheehan, the second story is just for you. ......

Love,

The Vox-O's

Pushing Rope: Pam Iorio Hearts Firefighters

Pushing Rope: Pam Iorio Hearts Firefighters

This post is old but extremely prevalent, considering that these people are having their strings pulled by those who would imagine they have Tampa all boxed up. Not to dissuade them of this because WHO WANTS TAMPA? Keep it. It stinks.

LOL !!!! What was beautiful about Tampa was it's people, they were cool. The few that are left are cool.

AND, Pam and these guys sold the city out from under you in order to run things their way. This has gone on with much rampant-ness since the election of the former Elections Spvr and the subsequent 'election' of the human exclamation point and his brother to my whitehouse.

Cindy Sheehan told it perfectly: When someone dresses like, spends like, ignores the 'lil' people like, and basically runs rough-shod over everything decent and humane to STEAL from people (read me and some of you)this person may call themselves a Democrat but baby that has nothing to do with reality. Which is why you shouldn't vote along party lines blindly.

Look around.

Oh, and ask Station ELF how they represent. LOL. Ya gotta love that word represent. I guess they'll go through every house in the neighborhood with their fake calls before it's over. Damned lazy. Also amazing how these people fall prone on the floor in perfect timing to my arrival and leavetaking. LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All in the pursuit of ... THIEVERY and WORSE. You could respect a decent thief. Not these scumbags though. I, myself, personally, have always drawn the line at children but these guys don't.

Nope. Not even a thin line.

And Pam Iorio LOVES them.

You do know the reason for that, right??

(voxers in the background making some hot stuff for later on ... please stand by ....)

Reclaiming Patriotism

As citizens, we honor and support our troops for their service and sacrifice.
As Americans, we are blessed by that sacrifice and support, which keeps us safe and keeps us strong.

As patriots, we call on our government to support our troops in the most important way it can - by ending this war and bringing them home.

Please visit this website and click on the link for Florida on the map. There is SO MUCH going on. Support John Edwards in this call. It's the thing to do.
This Memorial Day weekend, we will all take responsibility for the country we love and the men and women who protect it. We will volunteer, we will pray, and we will speak out. In the days leading up to Memorial Day, we will take action to support our troops, end the war, and bring them home to the heroes' welcome they deserve. And on Memorial Day, we will honor and remember all those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Each of us has a responsibility to act, a duty to our troops and to each other. Support the troops. End the war.

There are many ways we can take action this Memorial Day weekend to support the troops and end the war. Start with one of the 10 ideas listed below -- ranging from care packages for the troops to public gatherings speaking out against the war. Or show your support in your own unique way. And on Memorial Day, take a action to remember and honor the fallen.

To begin, add your information below and choose what kind of action you’re going to take.

10 Things You Can Do Over Memorial Weekend to Support the Troops and End the War

Throughout our history, military men and women and their families have sacrificed for America. The troops in Iraq and their families continue to sacrifice today. So this Memorial Day Weekend, John Edwards is asking the American people to give some part of their weekend in return—to honor and remember all those who have gone before in service to our country, and to let our government know we want to honor our troops by ending the war and bringing them home.

This Memorial Day weekend, John Edwards is asking that we all take responsibility for the country we love and the brave men and women who protect us. As citizens, let’s volunteer in support of our troops, and offer our service to honor theirs. As Americans, let’s take a moment to join in prayer for our troops. And as patriots, let’s gather together this weekend and make our voices heard. It’s up to us. If we are loud enough, and clear enough, we can end this war. Because it really is possible to stop a president who believes he can do no wrong—it just takes people with the courage to do what’s right.

Get local, get active, and get outdoors. Walk the streets of your neighborhood. Get everyone you know to sign a petition to your local government body—for instance, your town or city council or neighborhood association—to pass a resolution requesting that Congress use its funding authority to support our troops and end the war. Bring the petition to the next meeting. Share your plans here.

Send our troops a taste of home. Go shopping with your kids, your friends, your neighbors, and buy a whole bunch of stuff that would make a soldier happy to receive (check for restrictions). Then go through a site like Anysoldier.com, OpGratitude.com, or TroopCarePackage.com to send your package to a soldier in Iraq. Take photos and tell us about it.

Gather in public. On Memorial Day weekend, get your friends, kids, co-workers, neighbors, aunts, uncles, grandfathers, grandmothers, and anyone and everyone you know together to publicly support the troops and end the war. If you hold an event on Memorial Day itself, please make sure that everyone you gather knows it is a day for honoring the fallen only. Be sure to check with your local authority for any permits you need for public gatherings. Contact local media to publicize your event. Before you get started, please take a moment of silence to honor the fallen. And during your event, make sure you conduct yourself respectfully—both for those serving in Iraq and the memory of the brave servicemen and women that Memorial Day honors. Share your plans here.

Pray. Organize a prayer vigil for our troops at your house of worship. Honor the fallen. Tell us about it.

Make your voice heard in Washington. Call President Bush at (202) 456-1111 or email him at comments@whitehouse.gov. Call your Representative and U.S. Senator and ask them to use their funding power to support our troops and end the war. Tell us about it.
Get vocal. Buy a bunch of poster-board and markers. At a picnic or with family and friends, make signs that say “SUPPORT THE TROOPS - END THE WAR.” Bring them to your local Memorial Day parade. Many parades are held on Saturday or Sunday. If your parade is on Monday, however, we ask that you choose another action to honor the fallen. Then take a digital photo of yourself and your family or friends holding up the poster and tell us about it. We’ll include it in a “Democracy Photo Album” on our site.

Greet a vet. Before Memorial Day Weekend gets started, get in touch with the Yellow Ribbon Fund and volunteer to provide welcome-back services and mentorships to injured soldiers returning home. Tell us about it.

Say thank you. Send a thank-you note to our troops through organizations like Let's Say Thanks or A Million Thanks. Better yet - gather folks together to write thank-you notes at a picnic. Tell us about it.

Help an injured vet. Before Memorial Day Weekend gets underway, contact your local VA Hospital and learn how you can volunteer. Tell us about it.

Light up the night. Get your friends and family together and organize a Memorial Day candlelight vigil to support our troops, end the war, and honor the fallen. Share your plans here.

Paid for by John Edwards for President. Contributions to John Edwards for President are not tax-deductible for federal income tax purposes.

Do it. Support John Edwards or Dennis Kucinich or Mike Gravel. Support them in their drive to return sanity to America. Even if your family's income (and expendable on frills) is reliant on the military. Take a page from Jan Wesner. She's real.

You really CAN'T make me take sides

When people say you have to choose because there are no bystanders; make no mistake: They're trying to feed you into the hate/divide thresher. Some people LOVE the hate/divide thresher and they belly right up to it and start singing the song --- the siren song of Hate/Divide.

Drug War: No bystanders. Sorry, I'm one. And I've had a LOT of people try to draw me in. A.you're stupid assholes. B. Just legalize and legislate. It's a joke. It's a big joke. On all of us. Even those who aren't bystanders are carrying a burden only slightly mitigated by beemers and hummers.

Protestant/Catholic: Not sure I could tell you exactly what a Protestant is or does and feel no need to become an expert on any ol'religion just so we can talk (argue/divide) about it. How silly. I happen to be sorta an expert on Catholic or at least I can tell you verbatim what I listened to by rote. I spent MY time in church looking around and was absorbed as usual by the sounds, the art, the humanity, etc.... It was a place of peace. Until they took the Catholic church down with real and imagined witch hunts and pedophiles. YOu go in a Catholic Church NOW and they have this very 'baptist-like' hands toward the sky thing going on. I was like, "Whoa, how long has THIS been going on??" LOL. And, shut up because I love Baptists. Yep, I've been engaged (albeit VERY briefly in some cases) a number of times. Guys like to buy me diamonds, what can I say? Don't do that anymore !!! I don't like them anymore. They are NOT a girl's best friend and sometimes the shock is palpable. I DO like surprises though and this boyfriend has to be THE best at finding his way to my heart with the smallest things that are surprises and thoughtful listening. (I have to throw in some love for him because .... well, he knows why LOL) And I've been to Baptist churches with one of the engagees, because omygod that's what THEY WANT THEIR WIVES TO DO: go to church with mama (at least he did) And, while I looked around all nervous he said ... "You're shivering, are you cold?? .... and I said, "NO, I'm afraid the roof is going to fall in". The next weekend they (the church people who really seemed cool as long as they stay within that parameter for me) were at my house because OH HELL YEAH that really IS why you fill out those lil 'guest' cards. Very daunting business. Probably all churches do that but I'll NEVER know because they've never gotten MY address again. Whew, too long spent on Catholics/Protestants. The reason why I brought it up is because I am of mixed background. HORROR. Yep, I'm part Irish and part English, among other stuff and so I am deeply ASHAMED and REPELLED by my fellow countrymen being involved in this long disgusting struggle over religion. Set it DOWN; move forward from THIS day. Right now. This moment. Make the rest count.
I've been in so many different types of churches. Not because of a search but to be polite. I found what I needed inside of me, I was born with it. The utter confidence and faith that there is something bigger than me and you and whatever you want to call 'it'/he/she/them ... just LIVE WELL and BE KIND. I personally find that same peace anywhere outside at any given moment or anywhere inside of myself. It's there. You're born with it. Anything you'll EVER need in this lifetime you are given before you get kicked out here with these other ummmmmmm human beings. Oh, and the reason I'm not going to study your religion is simple: Do I ask you to study my interests? Nope. I don't mind listening and sometimes I am even going to be interested but .... ummm, don't expect me to remember any of it. It's not that interesting. To me it's another form of divide/conquer/hate and if you try too hard to involve me in your religion it will make me really wonder about you as a person and why you are such a soldier for your own personal regime. By the same token, I can't stand beer though numerous among my friends extol it's many virtues. To be polite, I've tried a # of times. YICK. So, while you extol the virtues of various beer my eyes are also rolling, looking around .... etc.... being polite. Although I like to read about the good times people have while they explore beer. Hmmmm. This is going to get off track.

Religion and DIVISION by SAME is only second in line to color, I think. Inside of each religion there are OTHER divisions where some more infighting can occur. TOTALLY LAUGHABLE. March off smugly with your beliefs while the whole fuckin world burns down. That's great. Inside of colors you have these folks kicking each other around. Apparently some terms are highly insulting to others of color from a member of their culture/race/ethnicity. I know that white people have this antipathy towards red-haired people because apparently a lot of white people are assholes. I dunno. It's so stupid. Set it DOWN and MOVE FORWARD.

Black/White/Yellow/Red/Green/Purple
Enough of this, already. Set down what you're carrying and move forward. Please.
I'm on your side but I have to be on my side, too. Yep, sorry, I do. I'm on all our sides but I'm stretched sorta thin being a human bridge. You start doing your part.

Israel/Whomever Else
Get over it. Stop pretending that you are right and they are wrong. You are right and wrong and they are right and wrong. It's NOT Holy Land anymore. Nobody's idea of God or Saviour would look upon that and condone. STOP IT. Stop involving entire other countries and disinterested folks in the twistiness of more division. If you can't be YOU without war-mongering and advocating for this hatred of those born across some border, you are the problem. Set it down and move forward. I am probably as ashamed of this as I am of the Irish/English Catholic/Protestant thing. I know powerful jews on both sides of the aisle. Some are funding some are disgusted. Color me disgusted by the whole thing. Live at peace and love one another. One fucking rule. JUST ONE. Love one another. What is so tough about that?

Politricks(Politicians)/US YOU AND ME. Get it straight. That's all it is. Seriously. And stop the silliness within the parties and move on. Let's just look for decency, integrity and honesty. That's all we need to move forward. I don't care what kinda hair you have, I DO care that you can do more than string iconic sound bites together with meaningful pauses. I like Ron Paul, I don't like Nancy Pelosi. I took Jim Davis and ran with him and had some serious misgivings but he beat all that was out there by a decent record and by being a seriously smooth pol all his life. Now he's going to be a lobbyist. Jesus. I definitely DID NOT go for Jim because he was this or that or stood for this or that. More like he was less an anti-christ and more a decent guy than the others.

This bullshit where you choose a candidate because they are for or against abortion is NOT correct. These people are to represent YOU. Vote for decency and then tell them what YOU want. It's NOT UP to anyone to decide whether they are for or against gun control. It's up to US. We tell them what we want. Try to remember that.

And, I'm not going to choose your side. Frankly, I don't really give a damn WHAT your side is in these divisive issues. If you're a little guy getting kicked around, that's easy to see. If you are POSING as a little guy being kicked around that's also pretty easy to discern. No fricking country is being forced by ANY OTHER COUNTRY to do ANYTHING. You can't control that country but you damn sure CAN control the way you react.

So, good people of intelligence: Stop furthering the idiocies that are polarizing and divisive. Or shut up. Simple. Just love everyone.

and guess what?? You are not right. Only half right.

So rather than continuing to promote the hate and the division, choose instead to be part of a bridge to understanding. A goal would be to understand that many many many things, some obscured by revisionist history led us all to this moment.

Make it count for your children and grandchildren, for your poets and your loved ones, for your musicians and your dreams.

Be part of a bridge of U N D E R S T A N D I N G.

I understand.

I understand.

I understand.

I will not take your side. You will not catch me going against someone to join in YOUR zeal to destroy another.

Gangs: Honestly, how does it feel to do what you are told all day every day and night? And, don't pretend that you don't. Helllllooooooo the synchronicity which happens so accidentally (LOL!) shows that you do what you are told all day every day. Just stop.

Stand for yourself. Try to remember before you made that choice. Don't wait for the deathbed to know the truth I am telling you:

When it's over, the king and the pawn go back in the same box.

And, that's a simple lesson.

Build a bridge. Stop burning down the house. Or threatening to do so. (LOL)
Build bridges of understanding. There must be something that everyone wants. Find it.

Happy Memorial Day. It's about ending this occupation of Iraq, ending the war in Afghanistan (which so many seem to have forgotten about but I can't because my best friend's brother is there again after the new year), it's about going and having a drink or a meal with someone that you just can't "GET" and see if you can get it. Done genuinely.

Genuinely love everyone and build some bridges together.

Blanks and Charges

Okay, tell me if this sounds mercenary. I'm leaving out names and identities for now, and even some words to protect those who frankly don't deserve protection but having never been a RAT (like some) I just don't feel good about spilling people's filthy sides of their lives onto the WWW...

However -- (you knew this was coming, right??) -- I'm willing to disclose same for a fee. In fact, I'm going to disclose some of this in a book which will definitely be for sale very soon but if you'd like to know if your name or some similar aspect that identifies your smarmy and illegal acts towards me and my family have been mentioned I'd be happy to negotiate a fee with you. For the record, save your pennies if I've known you longer than thirty years. Out of respect for you and your family I'll leave your names out. Out of respect for you and your family I have remained silent. Apparently this same respect was not inbred in you. That's a pity but you and yours are safe with me. The ones who took it upon themselves to do your bidding against an innocent family are wide open just like they've left MY family wide open. Herewith I refer to my extended family and network many of whom are currently suffering at your hands. Be on notice.

.....
In my living room watching;
but I am not laughing ....

..... risk something, take back what's yours
say something that you know they might attack you for
cause I'm sick of being treated like I have before ....
...
Meanwhile, the leader just talks away
Stuttering and mumbling for nightly news to replay
And the rest of the world watching at the end of the day

In their living room laughing like,

"what did he say?"

" .... courage is humankind's cardinal virtue, because ''it makes all other virtues possible."
Reverend William Sloane Coffin

......" And I dare you to ask for a lot, I dare you to hold fast to your ideals and to expound them as publicly and as fearlessly as Martin Luther King and Bill Coffin and Betty Friedan and those dozens of grandmothers arrested a few weeks ago for protesting the war in Iraq."

Every man dies.

Not every man really lives.

In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends...... Martin Luther King, Jr.

Contrary to popular belief:

Patience is NOT a virtue.

It is concentrated strength.
"The pioneers of a warless world are the young men (and women) who refuse military service."

"Only those who dare to fail miserably can achieve greatly" – Robert Kennedy
"Those who profess to favor freedom and yet deprecate agitation…want crops without plowing up the ground, they want rain without thunder and lightening. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters…. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will." Frederick Douglass, 1857
Tis nobler to lose honor to save the lives of men than it is to gain honor by taking them.

About Me

ANYWHERE, ANYWHERE LOL, United States
I was born a citizen of the world and have remained such but along with that: I'm a long time Tampa resident. Mixed bag at that as I've seen life here from nearly all angles and while somewhere in there I became slightly indoctrinated, I'm not too proud of the way people have taken over this city and run it with an iron fist for all but some. This city is working hard on creating just two classes. Thems and them dont's and they are working hard to shove some families down into the gutter for reasons known only to them. Some might be as petty as jealousy, some might be politically motivated, some might just be stupid and all are wrong. I want to believe we can get better but that would entail some stuff that I have no control over. I only can control myself and my reactions to what occurs.
