UPDATE: While I was looking for the link to the incident in CA. which involved a semi-tractor-trailer, just like the guy who died here in St. Pete (huge bridge fire -- shut the bridge, remember??) ... I found THIS link. A California Interstate collapse JUST YESTERDAY (july 31st) Which makes it FIVE that I discovered merely through CASUAL reading. This is FUCKED UP. Keep an eye on this, people. TALK ABOUT IT. Something is very wrong here.

Original post: I wonder if anyone else has noticed that this is about the FOURTH bridge/interstate incident in the last several months which resulted in loss of interstate or bridge use. Maybe more. One here, one outside Baltimore, one in a location I'm going to have to research ... this is horrendous.
I wonder if explosives were planted.
UPDATE: This one is from 2005 but I'll find the one I am looking for outside Baltimore; it occurred VERY shortly after the one in St Pete. Within a week and CA was within another week or so. Sometimes I don't get time to do any reading though so I probably missed some.

Yes, I'm conjecturing somewhat at this point, but about three weeks ago I was pointing out to my boyfriend (okay I just remembered the other one was in CA, maybe San Fran) that these bridge/interstate events were occurring in a near counter-clockwise manner. First here. Then Baltimore. Skip over to the West and now Minnesota. There was also an earlier bridge incident in Florida with the ramming/closure of the Skyway Bridge. Not sure if this is the one I remember. I have the newspaper article at home. I was not comfortable with the timing of this incident considering some things I won't relate HERE at this time.

To the folks in Minnesota: I'm so sorry. This is so shocking. I am sorry for the losses of your loved ones and community members.

This makes me even more suspicious: Fox taking a look at 'recent' bridge disasters. I guess I read more than the folks over to fox but that comes as no surprise. I guess that forty years ago could be considered recent?? NOT ! And the Sunshine Skyway Bridge is in FLORI-DUH.
Not a lot of fact-checking done over there at Fox. Before these bridge/interstate incidents were the tunnel/train incidents. Before that were the Amtrak incidents. It's scary how fast things could shut down by pulling a few switches; planting a few explosives. I'm SICK of people trying to scare people. Maybe this is coincidental, maybe not. I'm not a big believer in coincidence and have learned to trust ME the most after a lifetime of calling them.

Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin (D., Wisconsin) and Congressman Donald Payne (D., N.J.) have signed on as cosponsors of H. Res. 333, a bill proposing articles of impeachment against Vice President Dick Cheney, according to Congressman Dennis Kucinich's office. Kucinich is the original sponsor of the bill. Baldwin is the fourth member of the House Judiciary Committee to have added her name to the bill. A fifth Judiciary Committee member, Steve Cohen, has thus far signed on only to a bill proposing the impeachment of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.

H Res 333 cosponsors include, in addition to Baldwin, Payne, and Kucinich: Jan Schakowsky, Maxine Waters, Hank Johnson, Keith Ellison, Lynn Woolsey, Barbara Lee, Albert Wynn, William Lacy Clay, Yvette Clarke, Jim McDermott, Jim Moran, Bob Filner, Sam Farr, Robert Brady.

That bill, H. Res. 589 sponsored by Congressman Jay Inslee, has 15 cosponsors in addition to Inslee: Xavier Becerra, Michael Arcuri, Ben Chandler, Dennis Moore, Bruce Braley, Tom Udall, Earl Blumenauer, Peter DeFazio, Hank Johnson, Steve Cohen, Keith Ellison, David Wu, Yvette Clarke, Darlene Hooley, Betty McCollum.

Johnson, Ellison, and Clarke are backing both bills.

Congressmen Jesse Jackson Jr. and Maurice Hinchey have recently said that they support the impeachment of Cheney and Bush, but have not yet signed onto any bills.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has opposed impeachment since May 2006, but this week said that if she were not the Speaker she would probably be backing impeachment, and that impeachment of Gonzales is clearly merited.

Tampa Firemen Persistent Assholes

Another one in the office just now. Today on the way in to the office this same one in a deathbox was at Westshore and Kennedy. Made it back JUST IN TIME to greet me backing in. Amazing how both of us in the same spot at same time. Amazing both of us same spot same time again. Amazing how this guy walks in here to talk to NO ONE, smiles at NO ONE makes sure to get my attention and THEN saunters on out. Make that two halfway decent (looking) firefighters. Where do they HIDE the fine ones? All I ever see is ugly mofo's.

Anyway -- congratulations on your thievery and persistence, thuggery and ill-mannered life-costing endeavors.

This morning my friend had to have the librarian at a COLLEGE LIBRARY in St Pete come over FIVE TIMES to visit different web-sites. Put in a password so he could read a frigging blog. Mine was ONE of them. So were several of my links.

What about this does NOT limit the education of a college student??? An adult should be able to surf wherever they want to. I'm pretty sure the ACLU would take an interest in this.

When he complained : the librarian (one of them, the other one agreed with him) insisted that the system was indeed not perfect (they got the best they could afford MY ASS they got the most uptight NOT MY ASS LOL) but ABSOLUTELY necessary because of people looking at pornography.

I ran into Congressman Donald Payne Tuesday evening and asked him if he would sign on to cosponsor H Res 333, articles of impeachment against Vice President Dick Cheney. He said yes immediately and brought his legislative director in on the conversation. They both said yes, as a matter of course, as if all they'd been waiting for was someone to ask them. Now, I know that's not quite the case, and that citizens of New Jersey have been lobbying Payne and other New Jersey Congress Members intensely. Still, it makes me wonder how many Congress Members might back impeachment if people just got to them, face-to-face, and asked.

Well, here's your chance to find out. Congress is taking the next month off. Congress Members will be in their districts. They'll be near your house. They have offices near your house. Now is the time to ask them to cosponsor H Res 333 or introduce their own articles of impeachment against Cheney.

If they agree to cosponsor H Res 333, you should contact Congressman Dennis Kucinich's office and let him know. If they do not agree, you should make a bunch of big posters that say "Honk to Impeach" and stand on the street corner in front of your Congress Member's office. Or you should sit in their office, read the Constitution out loud, and refuse to leave. August is your time to make your message clear. 54% of Americans want Cheney impeached, and 40% do not. See how many of that 54% you can bring with you to your representative's office.

If we add Congressman Payne's name to the official list of cosponsors of H Res 333, including the original sponsor, Kucinich, we get a total of 16 principled men and women standing for the impeachment of Dick Cheney. They are: Jan Schakowsky, Maxine Waters, Hank Johnson, Keith Ellison, Lynn Woolsey, Barbara Lee, Albert Wynn, William Lacy Clay, Dennis Kucinich, Yvette Clarke, Jim McDermott, Jim Moran, Bob Filner, Sam Farr, Robert Brady, and Donald Payne.

Meanwhile, two Congress Members have recently said that they support the impeachment of Cheney and Bush, but have not yet signed onto any bills: Jesse Jackson Jr., and Maurice Hinchey. While they should be asked immediately to put their signatures where their mouths are, we can go ahead and include them in our count of Congress Members for impeachment, bringing the total to 18.

On Tuesday, Congressman Jay Inslee introduced or announced he would soon introduce a bill to impeach Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. Inslee says he has 15 cosponsors, including himself. Neither Inslee nor anyone else I can find provides a full list of those 15 names, but 11 of them are: Jay Inslee, Xavier Becerra, Michael Arcuri, Ben Chandler, Dennis Moore, Bruce Braley, Tom Udall, Earl Blumenauer, Peter DeFazio, Hank Johnson, Steve Cohen. Of those 11, only one, Hank Johnson, is already on our list of impeachment supporters. Assuming that he is the only one of the 15 already on our list, we can add 14 to 18 and reach a total of 32 Congress Members now backing the impeachment of either Cheney or Gonzales or both.

Bringing the grand total to 33 is none other than the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, who said on Tuesday that if she were not the Speaker she would probably be backing impeachment. Word to the wise: other congress members should do as she would do, not as she advises.

It is likely that most or all of the supporters of H Res 333 will sign onto Inslee's bill, assuming – again – that somebody asks them. And supporters of Inslee's bill can now be added to the list of priority Members to lobby to sign onto H Res 333. Of special note is freshman Congressman Steve Cohen because he serves on the House Judiciary Committee. With the addition of his name, there are now four members of the Judiciary Committee on our list of 33, two for impeaching Cheney, one for impeaching Gonzales, and one for impeaching both of them.

Congressman Payne is an interesting addition as well. Payne holds the same seat in Congress that was once held by Peter Rodino, the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee who led the passage of articles of impeachment against President Richard Nixon.

In addition to Inslee's cosponsors, it's possible to create a list of priority Members to be lobbied on impeaching Cheney. By combining the lists of those who seem most likely to sign on (primarily those who cosponsored H Res 635 in the last Congress) with those on the Judiciary Committee who seem most likely to sign on, we arrive at this list:

John Hall, Maurice Hinchey, Jesse Jackson Jr., Diane Watson, Sheila Jackson Lee, John Lewis, Steve Cohen, Neil Abercrombie, Tammy Baldwin, Lois Capps, Michael Capuano, Danny Davis, Chaka Fattah, Michael Honda, Carolyn Maloney, Betty McCullom, Gwen Moore, James Oberstar, John Olver, Steven Rothman, Martin Sabo, Hilda Solis, Pete Stark, John Tierney, Nydia Velazquez, David Wu, Bill Delahunt, Bobby Scott, Artur Davis, Mel Watt, Luis Gutierrez, Zoe Lofgren, Robert Wexler, Linda Sanchez, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, Jerrold Nadler, John Conyers.

Wexler and Schultz are linked as they are Florida Congress Democrats and that's UP TO US, Floridians. If there are any more there from Florida, please let me know. What encourages me is that six years ago I wouldn't have known if the handsome Mr. Wexler was from Florida or Alaska. NOW, I have a Congressional Crush, TOO!!! Sinfonian, THIS is your chance to give Deb that call; you KNOW she's dying to hear from you. Been too long since the JJ dinner. The lovely Ms. Wasserman-Schultz is Sinfonian's platonic for now Congressional Crush.

These are not people who have suggested or even hinted that they are willing to step up and support the Constitution. But they are the most likely and most important to do so.

Any Congress Member still unwilling to get behind impeaching Cheney, should at the very least sign on for the impeachment of an Attorney General who openly lies to Congress.

The reason why government agencies and the mass ilk of same cannot be held accountable is quite often attributable to the fact that attorneys, private citizens and others who have been 'shafted' cannot get the information that they need to prosecute. They file FOIAs which, as you know, are the Freedom of Information Act forms to compel a govt agency to release data and records pertaining to almost anything.
My personal belief is that we should not even be paying for the paperwork. They should take that burden on because when they set out to cover something up the way they do it is to make it impossible and/or cost-prohibitive OR use the old foot-dragging to keep you in the dark while the statutes of limitations run out. Why don't judges force this along? I can't answer that.
