The same one who mysteriously suffered a flat tire long about the NEXT DAY from the flat tire discussion I had with Officer Runkle of the Tampa Police Dept.
So --- along with the 'your car will catch on fire from the fuel injectors' .. verizon employee to numerous car tamperings and flat tires the NEOCONS of the Tampa Fire Dept and their friend, my neighbor (LOL)and the nephew of a Tampa Fireman and his associates (you'd have to see it to believe it) have PHYSICALLY EXTENDED their target of threats to my family. Proof exists.

TAMPA - Tampa fire inspectors Toy Pelaez and Manuel Perrone resigned from their positions effective at noon today. They are the subjects of criminal and administrative investigations into whether they inappropriately accepted favors from Advanced Engineered Systems, a company that does business with the city.
Pelaez and Perrone will receive their pensions and be paid for accrued sick leave and vacation time. Perrone will receive $20,000 for sick leave, and Pelaez will get $5,000. Pelaez will be paid about $4,800 for vacation time, and Perrone about $2,600.
Both have worked for the city for more than 20 years.

Just like I said, where else but in a government job can you resign in disgrace and Perrone will receive $20,000 for sick leave, and Pelaez will get $5,000. If it can be proved they took bribes before they were eligible for pensions they should forfeit their pensions. But I doubt that was thw case. They were probably vested before they took the bribes. At the least, their pensions should be adjusted down and they should be made to pay back all salaries from the time they first took bribes.

Hey capt rickjames, the "service" these halfwits performed for me & my city is they STOLE from us. As a TAX payer in South Tampa, I expect to get a day's honest work out of the people that me and my neighbors pay them to perform. Also, I live VERY CLOSE to the Starbucks on Bay to Bay Blvd. that these "heroes" would campout on their fat A55es at---all the while getting FREE COFFEE!!! (another kickback?) The only hazzard there is that they may have burned a tongue once or twice! hahaha I especially, on one occassion, thought that it was in extreme poor taste that Perrone and 2 of his cohorts lingered at Sbux-for about an hour-the day after the city was to release the list of lay-offs. WOW! I do know this...A LOT of my FF friends are happy that this came to light, b/c it was certainly besmudging an otherwise VERY FINE & PROUD department. Go ahead and attack me all you want, but I will have you know, I think its a SHAME the city commission re-negged on your contract & I told Dingfelder the same.

No where was it mentioned that these men were bribed. There is a huge difference between a bribe and a gift. Especially such minor gifts in an industry where the stakes are so high. Their judgement in accepting gifts and the bogus timecards can be questioned but their inspections were legit.

Let me educate the taxpayers and the public by stating FACTS you left out! First, I can always count on the Tampa Tribune for bashing me and my career field. I dont make 59K like your Saturday opinion article. Sick Leave paid to these inspectors is time that they earned and accrued on the job by coming to work. This accrued sick time will be used if a line of duty injury occurs and we are unable to preform our duties as profesional firefighters. I.E. Motor vehicle accident, non-breathing family member of a tax payers, and yes structure fires. Finaly, a pension that we contribute to with our money. The city doesn't hand out pension for hanging out at fire stations for 20 years. I hope that by coming in contact with hazardous material I.E; blood, feces, vomitus, ect, ect, ect. I hope that I have earned my pension.

These men were firefighters before they were inspectors. they have surved the city for many years, and to those of you that live in the city they may have helped you or one of your loved ones,so for you to bash them just isnt right. I have a question? what are you people getting out of slandering tampa fire dept. They give alot to the community. I think they just raised 40k for chairty. say something bad about that. I don't even know where to start with all the BS and ignorance I see posted on here. Is the BS out of jealousy cause you are not capable of doing the job? You are probably better off anyways cause you will probably live longer and avoid the possibility of catching a disease from someone you try to help in their emergency or the possibility of getting injured by trying to save a property that is on fire. You have no idea what the job entitles. You have no idea what the pay structure is all about and who payes what. Yes, taxpayers pay the City and the City pays the firemen, the police, the public works, etc, etc. The retirement is payed to a private pension by the firemen, not the City. The Starbuck's thing is ridiculous. Why can't a fireman get a coffee? You have never gotten a coffee while at work, a-hole? What do you thing keeps them up to run the emergencies at 2, 3, 4 in the morning? They work a 24hr day and off 48. That is more hours a week then a 9-5 job. I am guessing that the ignorant bloggers here have never used the 911 system? If you haven't, then you are fortunate, cause you haven't had an emergency situation that requires the skill and abiliy that these men/women have to help when others won't. Maybe one day you will need the help and guess who will show up? Yup, a firemen. Not a firemen making 59K a year, but a firemen who is away from their family for 48-72hrs a week and another 20-30hrs at another job just to be able to support that family. Why don't you get your facts straight and realize who you may have to call when the S@#t hits the fan. Go find someone else to pick on, cause a firemen knows who the people call and who the people rely on when they are in need. The whole "accepting gift" BS. That is all it is, BS. So, stop being so ignorant and hateful and start supporting those who just may show up on your doorstep and save YOUR life.

I'm guessing most of you people posting on here have never been in the situations that firefighters have been. I'm also guessing that when someone calls for help, you are not the one to respond. These men served the City of Tampa for close to half their lives. They put their lives at risk and you have the nerve to say that they do not deserve their pension that they pay for during their entire career. Did you all know that a starting firefighter/paramedic in the City of Tampa can qualify for food stamps, To me, with all the risks they take out there is a shame. I pay taxes, which only a very small percentage goes to salaries does not make me think that firefighters are overpaid. I would rather see the whopping 400 dollars I'm saving this entire year on my reduced taxes go to protecting my life and property. Firefighters work 48-72hr work weeks for a total of about 2500 hrs a yr compared to 2080 for a 40hr work week. Now do your own math, someone making 35,000 yr is making much more per hr for a 40hr job. They work all day,night,weekends,holidays away from their families that they bring diseases home to. Why don't you all think about the big picture before you bash people you don't even know while you are safe at home with your family and knowing you have someone to call for help.

FF/james:Correction, accrued sick leave in Tampa IS NOT for on the job injury. It is for personal sickness, family emergencies, getting off for the weekend schedule. Don't forget the Captain that was forced to resign, oh I'm sorry allowed to retired for being the ring leader of a "photo session" at Fire Station 21, then lied through the complete investigation. Then the firefighter caught hiding behind an electronics store with a fire dept forceable entry tool which was used in an attempted B&E, Or the firefighter a few months ago stopped for DUI and had Coke on him, the TFR driver engineer that was forced to "retire" to go serve prison time for purchasing kiddie porn.The firefighter that within the last 2 weeks that retired due to a DUI/ and drugs in a northern county. These are only Tampa Fire Rescue Employees that have been mentioned. DRUG TEST EVERY TFR EMPLOYEES NOW FROM THE FIRE CHIEF TO THE DISPATCHER, You will be shocked from the results.I worked there for over 30 years. The Fire Investigators are crooked, the page each other at home so they can get out of the house to meet up with their mistress'. Paramedics teaching student on "ride alongs", then swapping the students from rescue car to rescue car because of the acts the students will preform for a good grade. That Department needs a regood cleaning and rehab.

blaze1, would your long career hold up to today's standards if you were investigated? Would you be squeaky clean with no mistakes?
After a 30+ year career, I'm sure you left the department from a pretty high administrative position. Lots of opportunities there to take advantage of the system and maybe bend the rules without getting caught. While dragging others through the mud for the mistakes they have made, is it fair to say you were the model city employee?
Sounds to me your just bitter about something else. Something you feel you've been done wrong over and now you'll take shots at others given every opportunity. How sad, small, and shallow.
As far as the alleged mistakes the two investigators made, I wish them well. I cant even begin to imagine the turmoil they and their families must now endure. I do not forgive them for their mistakes but I have no doubt they have done much more good than bad throughout their long careers and I'd like to at least thank them for that. I thank even you blaze1 for your 30+ years of service even though I'm sure you've made your mistakes too.

Blaze 1 obviously you have a lot of inside information and some built up anger for some reason. If in fact you did work for TFR for 30+ years I hope to GOD none of them were with me. To get on this forum and air dirty laundry about a job that provides you and your family financial security makes me sick to my stomach. Some brother you turned out to be. The fire department is a cross section of society and shares the same problems as many other profession. We have clergy that like to play with children, Senators that like to play footsies in the public bathroom and fireman and cops that sometimes dont do the right thing. To state that TFR needs a good cleaning is obserd, yes we have had a few problems just like other professions but TFR more than 500 dedicated employees that will answer every call that is dispatched and will do so to the best of thier abilities. Blaze1 must have be one of the retirees that are pissed off because the firefighters only making 30,000yr didnt vote to increase his 80,000 plus pension with the new multiplier. He will just sit at home with nothing to do and complain because he probably feels cheated while collecting a bigger check than 75 percent of the active department. It is truly sad to see that there are people out there that are bashing firefighters that protect the community. If anyone out there is mad because of the benefits, why didn't you sign up?? blaze 30,000 comes from the union contract that showed what a starting firefighter made when i got hired. which 5 yrs later is only 32,000. by the way a garbage man makes more money than a firefighter! Look at the city website. Why am i stupid? Because I have a job that i love and am not overtaken by my work compared to lawyers and doctors and other high paid careers. we have more people on the job that are on the lower end than the topped out end. I urge you to reread my posts fully and you will see that I am pro F/F, BUT anti-slime. I understand your desire to defend your brothers, BUT wrong is wrong- You should direct your influence and ire toward those within who have sullied your good name, ESPECIALLY during this day in time, while you are fighting for a more deserving contract.
