This will be brief. Charlie is RIGHT. You know, it's really not MY fault or anyone's fault that you came late to the game in Tampa or elsewhere in FLORIDA. You wanted to come down here and build these butt-ugly dumps and steal all the waterfront and THEN you wanted Charlie to give it to you for FREE. FUCK THAT.

Charlie is right. THIS is the case it pertains to. TBT wanted this woman to pay her 'fair share' of taxes. OR, anyone living on the street to pay the same rate. No matter if you're fixed-income, been there fifty years, disabled, etc... if they're paying it they believe it's fair that YOU do, as well. I don't see their reasoning and I don't buy it.

I'm not sure who is being victimized here: On the cover of tbt the little paper that is left here and there published by the st pete times they are disparaging charlie for holding up as victim a woman who was afraid she'd have trouble selling her home because of the tax jump.
And, TBT decried that saying it wasn't fair for some NOT to pay their fair share?? How do you figure??? I don't get THAT, at all.
Why is it not fair for me to have lower taxes when I have been paying them for longer than you???

I'm certainly not GETTING ANYTHING for my taxes unless you count the shell they dumped off in the setback about six years ago and the expected two and a half hours a day on the computer at the library.

There are those who choose to build these mansions and then pay the highest tax bill in Hillsborough County. There are those who choose to compete with them. They also have prime property (well, not in my opinion but in theirs) and one has public artwork and other amenities ... that others not paying major dinero in taxes do not enjoy without a drive and a high parking fee.
So, the whole 'fair share' thing doesn't play with me.

I got my street waxed yep WAXED. I swear to god. The thing is already cracked from the thin veneer of that black crap they put on it. I don't care I was fine with the old one. But, if some dude wants to slap down a big ol two story house and have that kind of property value and use up that much air space and take away that much from the quietude and privacy of the street then yeah he should pay for it. He just got here. That's not my fault. I'm not going to pay more taxes to keep him company in his zeal to have more be more and make himself feel better, king fo the neighborhood-ness. whatever.

It's like a two-tier thing .... I've been here, I got here when the taxes were low. I put in time with inconveniences and paid for things that he will enjoy (on MY dime)

Now, he wants things and he doesn't want to pay for them. He wants ME to pay for them.
How is THAT fair?? I'm still paying for what they did for him to enjoy when he arrived.
I'm paying to fix all of South Tampa's greed for concrete that prevents runoff.

The whole 'fair share' got to me. Believe me, we've all paid our dues to live in this dump. If you don't like your tax bill stay where you are. You knew all this before you got here.
No one is fooled.

This is a ploy for the rich new people to get EVERYONE to pay for the shit they want.
