Ex Iraq Commander says HOME

Ricardo Sanchez who was the Commander in Iraq when Baghdad was surrendered agrees with the Democrats and others that the war must END.

''The improvements in security produced by the courage and blood of our troops have not been matched by a willingness on the part of Iraqi leaders to make the hard choices necessary to bring peace to their country,'' Sanchez said in remarks to be aired Saturday for the weekly Democratic radio address.

''There is no evidence that the Iraqis will choose to do so in the near future or that we have an ability to force that result,'' he said.

Sanchez added that the House bill ''makes the proper preparation of our deploying troops a priority and requires the type of shift in their mission that will allow their numbers to be reduced substantially.''

Threatening to fire civilians just before Christmas although it's quite obvious that there is more than adequate funding in place to carry HIS ILLEGAL AND IMMORAL "WAR" on through March. What a WAD.

As part of this campaign, the Pentagon is distributing a document warning that the Army may cease to function if it does not receive the funds now. (View the document here.)

At a press conference this morning, Reps. John Murtha (D-PA) and David Obey (D-WI) rebutted the administration's scare-mongering by noting that, just last week, Bush signed a $471 billion defense spending bill. That bill "contains enough money to continue military operations through mid-February, because of a provision that lets the administration shift money to the war from other Pentagon accounts."

Murtha ripped the Pentagon's "Rumsfeld-like" tactics aimed at "scaring the families of the troops" just ahead of the Christmas season:

I thought we'd gotten rid of Secretary Rumsfeld, but this really worries me that there would be such a political document. ... This is a political document. They're scaring people. They're scaring the families of the troops with this document. That's the thing that's so despicable about what they're doing.

Ok, who got to Scottie? He's spinning the words in his book as fast as he ever spun the lies of the Bush administration. Surprised?

Well, ya knew it was too good to be true. A BushCo insider, a "made man", ratting out the boss? It didn't take Scott McClellan long to backtrack on the excerpt made public yesterday from his upcoming book.

Can you say, "damage control"?

WASHINGTON - Former White House spokesman Scott McClellan does not believe President Bush lied to him about the role of White House aides I. Lewis Scooter Libby or Karl Rove in the leak of CIA operative Valerie Plame's identity, according to McClellan's publisher.

Peter Osnos, the founder and editor-in-chief of Public Affairs Books, which is publishing McClellan's book in April, tells NBC from his Connecticut home that McCLellan, "Did not intend to suggest Bush lied to him."

The excerpt published Tuesday seemed pretty straightforward. It makes one wonder who got to Scottie today.
