Pentagon Blocking YOUTUBE:: for Andy Bacevich

Andy Bacevich. Lots of photos from and with someone who loves him a LOT ! Awesome site.

Mark Frankenberg at American Wisdom notified me of this the other day but I have been busy with other things.

The Pentagon has blocked U.S. Troop access on Department of Defense computers to a number of sites. Among them: YouTube and MySpace. Reason? None, really. Recreation too rampant on DOD computers. But they can still connect privately, of course. (WOW)

Okay !! BULLSHIT !!! Be real. There may be NO OTHER access.

My thinking? They were just figuring out how to tell the truth and get it back to US who can help them.

There's a great post on this here. The Lede.

Andy Bacevich UPDATE ON BELOW and a memorial fund if you so desire for Andy Bacevich.

And here, some more words about Andy and his life and the first version of how he was killed. Fred Thys
There's an audio available
Excerpt:THYS: Jennifer says the sisters have agreed to talk because they don't want the memory of their brother reduced to the fact that he was the son of a prominent critic of the war.

JENNIFER: I think a lot of people think this is a story about a father that was a professor that was against the war that had a son that died in the war. And it's not. More than anything, we think that our brother was....

KATIE: Terrific.

JENNIFER: He was a fantastic human being.

AMY: He was a gift, and we will miss him.

THYS: Bacevich was 27 years old. In an e-mail to the family, Bacevich's captain says the young lieutenant was posted on a main road in the Sunni triangle, North of Baghdad. They were on the lookout for white sedans. Bacevich ordered his soldiers to stop one car. The passengers refused to come out. Bacevich ordered one of his gunners to fire a burst. Still no response. Bacevich moved his platoon of four armored vehicles closer to the car. The captain's e-mail says two insurgents left the vehicle. One fired his AK-47. Bacevich returned fire. And then one of the insurgents blew himself up. The shrapnel hit Bacevich. Within 15 seconds, his soldiers were giving him CPR, and the medivac helicopter came about 25 minutes later, but Bacevich had died from his wounds. His soldiers say he saved the life of his gunner by the way he had positioned himself. For WBUR, I'm Fred Thys.

In related and very sad news the war critic Andrew Bacevich has lost his son, 1st Lieutentant,Andrew J. Bacevich, in Iraq. I read it here at MajikThise first. Here's some excellent blogging on the matter at Liberty Street.

And here.

But, so far, I think this commenter on Jules Crittenden put it best:

Now he begins a long journey that will last until his own last breath, his steps a little slower because he carries his son along with him. Time will soften the terrible longing to a dull wistfulness.

God speed, Professor.

(I don't know when the dull wistfulness ever gets here, I'm doubtful of that part)

This man, Professor Bacevich ... told the truth about war and how it is SOLD to us and others.I'll talk more about this soon and my apprehension upon learning of his activism that he had a son on active duty. I was so proud of him for speaking up and then I remember a few days later some man came along claiming to be one who had lost a son and he was very rabid for the war to go on.

I support our troops. I do not support this war.

Let's face it: My loved ones and I have been threatened over PROPERTY. These guys are playing hardball. It hardly stretches my imagination that this is the next Pat Tillman looking at us. I've documented all that has gone on and all directions it has come from. The problem with Prof. Bacevich is that he is a man of honor. It takes so much longer for honorable people to catch on to the filth they are dealing with.

The father, Andrew Bacevich in the 70's doing his time in the army.

Juxtaposed with beloved son and namesake. Wow they look a lot alike. Very sad. Very questionable. At least he will know how to get answers. Not that it changes anything. Gone is gone. But no one ever really LEAVES.

Speaking of which, have any of you passed by fire-stations as I suggested and eye-balled what might be the face you depend on to save your life????

It ain't your Grandma's fireman in there, I'm tellin ya. They are going to wear out the streets I regularly travel. Unbelievable.

Wildfires force Fla., Minn. evacuations
Both states have seen drought conditions; Georgia fire spreads

Terry O'Rourke, visiting from Chicago, makes his way to the Okefenokee Swamp near Folkston, Ga., on Monday as a long column of smoke stretches across the the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. An estimated 101,000 acres have burned since the fires there started.

Updated: 7:16 p.m. ET May 7, 2007
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Further evacuations were ordered Monday in windy, parched Florida as a wildfire crept within a quarter-mile of several homes, one of numerous blazes that occupied crews around the country.

A fast-growing fire forced evacuations in northeastern Minnesota, and the area damaged by Georgia's largest-ever wildfire surpassed 100,000 acres — about 156 square miles — as that blaze continued to spread.

Residents in at least two areas of Florida were ordered to leave, and hundreds more were on standby. About 20 homes in Walton County in the Panhandle were evacuated as a 300-acre fire threatened the neighborhood, said Jim Harrell, a spokesman for the state Division of Forestry.

A second evacuation was ordered quickly as a fire sprang up near the Wekiva River in central Florida, Lake County spokesman Chris Patton said. That order was lifted hours later after crews got the 1,000-acre fire under control.

Officials said conditions across the state were critical, with humidity at dangerously low levels inland and winds gusting over 20 mph.

"It's getting interesting and I don't think it's going to get better soon," state Emergency Management Director Craig Fugate said.

260 fires in Florida
In all, there were at least 260 fires burning Monday in Florida, covering about 19,000 acres. Nearly 50 of those started Sunday, about half of them caused by lightning from a line of thunderstorms that moved through the state too quickly to quench the blazes, Harrell said.

(sorry folks, I just DONT believe that) NOT FIFTY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If they needed help putting out the fires why don't they call the Tampa St Pete Pinellas firemen and that way we can kill two birds with one stone: They can take a few days off from stalking and we can put out fires. Also ---- we know it's all about developing. All of it. Everybody knows. I bet an honest person would be able to prove there was arson afoot on MANY more of these fires. First the arson then the development

Firefighters in Grand Marais, Minn., called for reinforcements as a wildfire continued to burn through the northeastern Minnesota forests, damaging more than 30 buildings and pushing about 100 people from their homes.

John Stegmeir, the incident commander, said he called for a doubling of firefighting crews to 300 as the fire grew to 16,500 acres — more than twice the size it had been Sunday night.

"You are going to see a lot more people here," he said. "We are just going to need more stuff to do what we need to do."

The fire advanced into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in northeastern Minnesota on Sunday. Officials ordered people to leave the vicinity.

Northeastern Minnesota has been in a drought since last summer, and no rain was expected for several days.

Georgia fire
In southeastern Georgia, three weeks after the state's largest wildfire on record ignited near Waycross, sustained winds of 20 mph from the northeast pushed the fire deeper into the Okefenokee Swamp, giving firefighters a chance to fortify fire breaks.

Lightning strikes from weekend thunderstorms started three new fires near the center of Okefenokee and posed no immediate threat to people outside the swamp.

The storms failed to bring rain to ease the extreme drought conditions.

"The fire areas themselves got next to nothing, just a little bit of sprinkles," said David Spear, a spokesman for the firefighters' joint information center. "You need days and days of heavy soaking rain to have any appreciable effect."

Officials said Monday the wildfire had blackened 100,420 acres. The Georgia Forestry Commission has said the vast wildfire was caused by a fallen tree striking a power line, but the agency suspects arsonists may have started six smaller fires that later flared up nearby.

Right. There's nothing like a forest fire or wildfire to bring out the arsonists with so many witnesses around. God.

No injuries were reported in any of the wildfires.

Battle continues to contain blazesCampfires, lightning and arson are the culprits of wildfires scorching thousands of acres across many Florida counties. Here's a glance at the latest figures released by state and federal forestry agencies on the status of fires throughout Florida:

Maybe arson is a NOTHER name for DEVELOPMENT

County, Name of fire, Acres, Percent contained:

Baker Florida Bugaboo 108,000 50
Bradford Dairy Road 14,657 80
Collier Balsa 18,027 95
Flagler WF Airport Road 6,800 75
Lake Red Oak 850 95
Lake Lee 2,600 75
Charlotte Middle of Nowhere 4,700 75
Escambia Mother's Day 250 90
Duval Marsh 475 25

Fire weather watches remain in effect today for Hamilton, Suwannee, Columbia and Gilchrist counties as breezy conditions combine with low humidity for "extreme fire conditions," officials said.

Winds are expected to weaken Wednesday, but forecasters said if conditions keep up, "critical fire weather conditions" are likely across large parts of the state on Friday and Saturday.

On-again, off-again Interstate closures continue, and officials are advising citizens to visit the Florida Highway Patrol's Web page for information on current road closings.

I see more and more headlights every day !! And, NO I did not count the days that we were overwhelmed by smoke from the redeveloping going on across Florida.

Tampa's Back Door Ways ... (OR...): Headlights to IMPEACH

Redundancy Still Lies lies and More lies

They sacrificed the deputy AG. Why didn't Gonzalez mention this BEFORE?? Had he forgotten that the deputy AG signed off on these firings?? All through all that testimony he forgot about this? LOL !!!! Good try, alberto.

Hey ... maybe the guy wasn't even THERE long enough to sign off on the firings. He's only been there 18 months !!!

Carol Lam had the White House targeted She was fired Feb. 2007 so that (though obvious in reason) does hold up for this lie. (LOL that plausible stuff)

Talking Points says there are now NINE fired US attorneys.

I'll check on the other dates -- I think it would be enormously funny if some of them were gone before the deputy AG got on the scene. Maybe the GOP is at least smart enough to have covered gonzo there.

Gonzales: Deputy was pointman on firings By LARA JAKES JORDAN, Associated Press
WASHINGTON - Attorney General Alberto Gonzales said Tuesday he relied on his resigning deputy more than any other aide to decide which U.S. attorneys should be fired last year.

His comments came a less than a day after Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty announced he would resign at the end of the summer — a decision that people familiar with the plans said was hastened by the controversy over the purge of eight prosecutors.

"You have to remember, at the end of the day, the recommendations reflected the views of the deputy attorney general. He signed off on the names," Gonzales told reporters at a National Press Club forum in Washington. "And he would know better than anyone else, anyone in this room, anyone again, the deputy attorney general would know best about the qualifications and the experiences of the United States attorneys community, and he signed off on the names."
McNulty, reached in San Antonio after Gonzales' remarks, declined to comment.

McNulty has acknowledged approving the list of prosecutors who were ordered to leave last October, a few weeks before the firings were made official. But documents released by the Justice Department show he was not closely involved in picking all the U.S. attorneys who were put on the list — a job mostly driven by two Gonzales staffers with little prosecutorial experience.

Gonzales ultimately signed off on the list in a process that Congress is investigating to see whether the firings were politically motivated.

Gonzales also called McNulty's pending departure "a loss. ... I'm really going to miss him

Blanks and Charges

Okay, tell me if this sounds mercenary. I'm leaving out names and identities for now, and even some words to protect those who frankly don't deserve protection but having never been a RAT (like some) I just don't feel good about spilling people's filthy sides of their lives onto the WWW...

However -- (you knew this was coming, right??) -- I'm willing to disclose same for a fee. In fact, I'm going to disclose some of this in a book which will definitely be for sale very soon but if you'd like to know if your name or some similar aspect that identifies your smarmy and illegal acts towards me and my family have been mentioned I'd be happy to negotiate a fee with you. For the record, save your pennies if I've known you longer than thirty years. Out of respect for you and your family I'll leave your names out. Out of respect for you and your family I have remained silent. Apparently this same respect was not inbred in you. That's a pity but you and yours are safe with me. The ones who took it upon themselves to do your bidding against an innocent family are wide open just like they've left MY family wide open. Herewith I refer to my extended family and network many of whom are currently suffering at your hands. Be on notice.

About Me

ANYWHERE, ANYWHERE LOL, United States
I was born a citizen of the world and have remained such but along with that: I'm a long time Tampa resident. Mixed bag at that as I've seen life here from nearly all angles and while somewhere in there I became slightly indoctrinated, I'm not too proud of the way people have taken over this city and run it with an iron fist for all but some. This city is working hard on creating just two classes. Thems and them dont's and they are working hard to shove some families down into the gutter for reasons known only to them. Some might be as petty as jealousy, some might be politically motivated, some might just be stupid and all are wrong. I want to believe we can get better but that would entail some stuff that I have no control over. I only can control myself and my reactions to what occurs.
