If you have not included in your preparations for tonight's address and ongoing efforts to persuade your colleagues of the need for impeachment, perhaps these observations from a citizen will help your cause. Thanks very much for your efforts for our country and Constitution.
Bush obligating the US to $20 Billion in arms sales to the Saudis, while at same time, unable to get price reduction in cost of oil from our so-called "friends and allies" who financed 9/11 and continue to finance Al Qaeda and Sunni violence in Iraq. Great negotiating there, Mr. President!
Senator Sheldon Whitehouse's revelations to Senate on 12/7 regarding secret court rulings under Bush that strip judicial branch of all power over the executive branch and mirror 1933 Reich laws to the letter.
The idea that impeachment is a distraction from meaningful legislation is bogus. No meaningful legislation is likely while Bush-Cheney are still in office. Ditto that impeachment is a distraction from 2008 campaigns. Dem party would do much to redeem itself in public's eyes by standing up for our rule of law rather than caving to Bush-Cheney.
Our tax dollars will be spent on Secret Service protection and other perks for Bush-Cheney after their term ends until the end of their natural lives. Such protection and perks should only be given to those who do not commit impeachable, treasonous acts against our country and Constitution. Bush-Cheney have disgraced their office -- and can surely afford Blackwater et al to protect and transport them in the future.
Bush-Cheney still angling for Iran war. Our congress must decide if their vision of empire and their means are best for our country or not, and if not, impeach BEFORE Iran war is launched by US or Israel and Saudis by proxy.
Piece of evidence in Libby trial in Cheney's handwriting implicates Bush and Cheney in outing of Valerie Plame. Easy impeachment ground for which evidence cannot now be destroyed. Like getting the mob for tax evasion, but it works.
Impeachment threat (private and public) to Agnew was enough to force the resignation of both Agnew and Nixon. If a serious impeachment threat is attempted, Bush-Cheney may fold in like manner. Carrot and stick: resign or face the embarrassment of impeachment. Of course, our congress has to realize that impeachment shows STRENGTH to the world, rather than weakness.
Impeachment proceedings against Cheney weaken his ability to do more damage for the next 12 months and severly undercut the brains and brawn of Bush.
