Okay, I don't trust you to go read this. LOL. Seriously, this is SUCH a GOOD column. I hope Bob Herbert has an inside deal that will stop him from going the same sad way of David Rosenbaum.

There’s so much talk of violence and mayhem as the solution to our ills. The candidates seem so eager to flex their muscles and engage the nation in conflict: Let’s continue the war in Iraq. Let’s show them what we’re made of in Iran. Let’s round up those immigrants and ship ’em back where they came from.

It’s like watching adolescent boys playing the ultimate video game, with no regard for the consequences. Rudy, the crime-fighter and terror maven, says he’s tougher than Mitt, who actually had illegals working on his property. Mitt begs to differ and says he’d like to double the size of the Guantánamo prison.

Are we electing a president or a sheriff? (that's bob's question, not mine but wish I'd thought of it FIRST!)

Representative Tom Tancredo of Colorado wants to stop all immigration, legal and illegal. Too much immigration brings problems, he said. Among other things, “it makes it difficult for us to assimilate.”

(The bludgeoning of logic is yet another form of violence coming out of the debates.)

We’ve got the thunderclouds of a recession heading our way. We’re in the midst of a housing foreclosure crisis that is tragic in its dimensions. We’ve got forty-some-million people without health coverage. And the city of New Orleans is still on its knees.

So you tune in to the G.O.P. debate on CNN to see what’s what, and they’re talking about — guns.

Former Mayor Giuliani, once a gun-control champion, has swallowed the party’s Kool-Aid straight from the packet, not even bothering to mix it with water. “People will be allowed to have guns,” he said. “I’m not going to interfere with that.”

It can be scary for small children to watch the former mayor of New York morph into Wayne LaPierre on national TV.

I’ll concede that it’s difficult to have a thoughtful exploration of complex issues in a format that allows a candidate just 90 seconds to answer. But the Republicans, far more than the Democrats, go out of their way to present themselves as 21st-century Rambos — a childish, cartoonish posture that solves nothing and can easily lead to tragedy in a world that is in fact quite dangerous.

You’d think that a presidential campaign would be the perfect venue for a serious discussion about Iraq, the greatest foreign policy debacle in the republic’s history. But even John McCain, who frequently seems as if he is the class of this G.O.P. field, followed up his comment about appeasement allowing Hitler to flourish with the following simplistic reference to Iraq:

“I just finished having Thanksgiving dinner with the troops, and their message to you is, the message of these brave men and women who are serving there is: ‘Let us win.’ ”

How is that helpful or enlightening? What does he mean by “win?” And win at what additional cost to human life and other resources?

The Republicans running for president are embarrassed to mention George W. Bush. But with few exceptions — Mr. McCain’s principled position on torture is one — they want to continue Mr. Bush’s failed, often belligerent and sometimes sadistic policies. (On immigration, an issue ripe for demagoguery, most of the howling G.O.P. pack has sprinted away from Mr. Bush, preferring a more macho, politically exploitive approach. Mr. McCain is again an exception.)

The incessant drumbeat of brute force as the favored solution to difficult problems serves to normalize state violence to the point where we hardly notice it. Before his widely reported crack about Jesus being too smart to run for office, former Gov. Mike Huckabee talked proudly about the tough challenge he faced in “carrying out” the death penalty in Arkansas.

“I did it more than any other governor ever had to do it in my state,” he said.

The Republican Party has won a lot of elections in recent years. So maybe this crop of candidates knows something about American voters that many us would rather not acknowledge, that too many of them are small-minded, fearful, bigoted and too shallow to recognize policies that are against their own — and their country’s — best interests.

Or maybe that’s not the case at all. Maybe this lot of Republican presidential candidates is misreading the public, and placing its bet on the wrong side of history.

I hope it’s the latter. Maybe voters in the early primaries will deliver the message that a more thoughtful, insightful, inclusive and constructive style of campaigning is desired.

Maybe then we can finally get issues like torture off the table (Mr. McCain and Mr. Romney had a testy exchange over waterboarding the other night) and squarely address the concerns so many voters have about the deteriorating economic climate here at home and America’s diminished standing abroad.

Just a quick republish so I don't have to go through all my compact flashes for the next "STALKING FIREMAN HERO" to put here. Quick re-do for the stolen judoghi top and for the Tampa fireman's nephew. Sorry, dude. Bad day to be you. I told yall to STOP stealing my belongings. I don't roll like the thugs but I DO have my own ways.
I can't imagine what you might think you accomplish but I assure you that I don't waste much time thinking about it AND I don't waste much time on it. Jump through all the hoops you like. I don't have to go with you. It's been awhile since you've stolen from me but far too short a time since you should have gotten that Fireman's nephew under control. All that could go away. I hope you know where you're driving that bus.

Here he is. If you click on it you will see that you can see this guy quite clearly. He's NOT okay with this picture going up here I can tell you that right now. The day OF... he went through all kinds of changes when he realized I had followed him down the stairs. I saw his car -- he's not the only one. This is just the beginning of the revelation. I thought I'd trade his reputation off for some FUCKING SANITY from these dumbasses pulling stupid stuff that's NOT EVEN HAVING ANY SWAY ON ME but apparently this guy isn't important enough to show some cooperation over.

They use this stuff on my car that makes your face redden in areas. It was there this morning. Along with some stuff inside the car. Some of this stuff is so toxic it's eating the paint off of the radiator. So, I'm spending some time documenting the differences between MY jeep and other jeeps. One day I'm just going to drive it in to one of those big trailers and a forensic chemist is going to examine it for what I'm saying. Then it's solid evidence which along with who knows HOW MANY DVR hours of proof and photos and other documentation. That along with the stalking (documented) and the threats (witnessed and video'd) is going to send soooo many people to prison. All this to save them a few bucks, mind you???

Yeah, the logic escapes me TOO.

It only takes a few seconds to apply this stuff ... minute distraction. There's a guy who is retiring from the TPD soon who is on video applying same. Picture's right on the City of Tampa website. He got all mad about me talking about Michael Niesen. Apparently these swells made some broken promises concerning MY property and now that they've realized they know NOTHING about me in order to best me they have resorted to the usual gauntlet of dirty tricks that they play on idiots.

AND here we should have a talk about vanity: I spent already and still the GREATEST amount of my life decidely unaware that I was pretty. So, guess what? It has NEVER mattered. Anyone who knows me KNOWS ME. So, again -- you're failing in your mission. Inside of me is the four-year old girl learning from her heroes about this and that but never hearing the word pretty or beautiful. It has NO importance to me. To you, it always has. Me? If it mattered how did I manage to spend WAY OVER half my life flippantly unaware?

It doesn't PAY to be beautiful.
But cheap, trashy media and 'some former tampa bloggers' LOL (read that cheap trashy media again)
And that's where the need for some imagined perfection arises. Off to the botox and the knife. While ME: For years and years I've spent time listening to how pretty I am. Especially to SOME men. They are really ENTHRALLED with me. They say men are interested in and intrigued by their mothers and subconsciously seek out one similar. This has proven true in many cases I have met the mom. Several times the current wife or former wife will bear a distinct likeness to me. (my thoughts on that are VERY private -- I don't really consider it a compliment while at teh same time it's train-wreckishly fascinating)
Similar bone structure, green eyes ... something elusive. (I'm the only one with the something elusive I take it)
To me this is the funny part ... I think the elusive quality is that I am VERY VERY real. When I'm with you, I'm WITH YOU. When all I hear is how pretty I am I have to go check in the mirror to see if anything has changed. Same old boring face looking back. Regular even features, big smile, eyes that absolutely need to be met. I do have some pretty intense green eyes. I can 'look' people into doing the right thing. No. I really CAN. For awhile I took to wearing glasses because I wanted to have a different appeal. Not the pretty one but the smart one. Yes, people Do treat your differently. I will also give credit to my beloved father's absolutely perfect, photogenic, boy-from-the-hills-who-impressed-my-Grandpa and played a mean game of golf -cheekbones. And his generous, full mouth. Why ?? Because my Mother would be proud that I remembered all the things she told me. Personally when a guy spends a lot of time telling me I am pretty I find it off-putting. Okay, ya said that. Thank you kindly. When you are deciding as I always am every day how the relationship is and where it's headed I want my man to have different priorities than sitting around looking at me .... I have a mirror at home or if he sees something I need to know about or if I get dressed all hot just for him OR ME.

Anyway, in MY family all that mattered is that you were smart, kind, aware, never biased and learned something NEW every day and above all --- made my Grandpa proud. The road to making him proud was filled with hard work, honesty, ethics, SMARTS, FAMILY and showing up on time. I was always late. Straight to my Grandpa who insisted that things were NO GOOD unless each of us was there. He was slow to glance up at me, extremely indulgent but displaying his notice that I was late and then a big, "Hi honey" as all the younger ones and some older ones ran over .... it was well-known and taken for granted that ... well, we had a very special bond. With my Grandpa around, I never knew I didn't have my Daddy to grow up with and escaped what must traumatize and bother some people. Which maybe comes out as hate for others who lose children tragically. I don't know. I try to have empathy because I believe there is good inside each of us.

I gladly drove a little faster and worked a LOT harder and in general behaved myself because my Grandfather's pride in me was my universe.

And he was the best man who ever lived. And the wisest. He raised my Mama. She did everything for me. My Grandma .. well, I 'm not even sure how I got on THIS subject but I'd need a whole blog for that little lady. Always a lady. Wanted my hair neat and trimmed. Taught me what is what. Being isolated could never bother me. I've always been a bit of a loner and my family was good with that. My Grandmother always saw to it that I had a great deal of privacy.

There was my sister who spent SO MUCH TIME in the mirror; lucky a person can't die from boredom. I couldn't have stood still long enough. She WAS pretty, I was so proud of her even though she was mean ... Pretty just isn't MY department. It's there like everything else. I don't even think about it -- not even take it for granted. It just is. If one day it's not .... it will just be isn't. Like favorite socks or something. Nice while they lasted.

So, what I'm saying ASSHOLES is that if you hope to sway me by attacking my face, looks, etc ... you should do some reading.
I never realized I had enemies. (actually they're NOT personal enemies just numerous, common garden variety (BAD GARDENT) property THIEVES and other miscreants banded together the American way of MOB. Once I realized this I began to think. (about them which I'm charging for becasue my time is valuable) As a non-violent, generally loving person I had to know things in order to peacefully and effectively maintain my place and stand where I stand.

Here's your problem as I see it: (watching you spin your wheels trying to put me through the slow grind) you don't KNOW ANYTHING about me. Every time you get someone close enough to get some info you OUT THEM. That's truly a big deficit for you and a big advantage for someone who not only can spell but UNDERSTANDS patience. You don't even know who I KNOW. You've tapped my phone,, gone through my mail, stalked me on the computer, foot, Halloween, movies, in my vehicle and to Canada and back. Baby, I've got people who are prepared to drop WHOLE LIVES when I need them. WHEN I need them. Eye in the sky.

Okay, tell me if this sounds mercenary. I'm leaving out names and identities for now, and even some words to protect those who frankly don't deserve protection but having never been a RAT (like some) I just don't feel good about spilling people's filthy sides of their lives onto the WWW...

However -- (you knew this was coming, right??) -- I'm willing to disclose same for a fee.
