She never gave money to Kathy Castor, Alex Sink, Bill McBride, John Kerry, Bill Nelson or Barack Obama. She has never courted Democratic activists in South Florida or interest groups in Tallahassee, and she knows few significant Democratic fundraisers.
Launching a statewide campaign when almost no party insiders and activists know you, and still fewer owe you any favors, is no easy task.

A lawyer for the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office resigned over the weekend, hours after she was pulled over in St. Petersburg for erratic driving but not given a sobriety test.
Jaime Eagan, 45, an associate general counsel for the Sheriff's Office, was stopped by Pinellas deputies at 12:51 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Fourth Street N and 92nd Avenue, chief deputy Bob Gualtieri said Tuesday. A tow truck driver had called authorities to say he "saw an indication of someone driving under the influence."
Deputies determined Eagan had been drinking, but they decided not to perform sobriety tests because they didn't think it was necessary

What's not mentioned there is how LOW the voter turnout was. HISTORICALLY LOW. I think I figured out at the time that the former Supervisor of Elections, Pam Iorio, (ran the elections in Tampa when George W Bush was selected as President) won the Mayoral ummmm 'race' by having the city employees intimidated, everyone knowing that she could and would find out who voted for her or not and then had the cops' famiies, FIREMEN and their families and all the other city/county employees VOTING FOR HER.
