Update on Trip to Iowa ..........

We had a great trip to Iowa this week.

I am more convinced than ever that our friend, Joe Biden, will be the Democratic nominee for President of the United States. He is simply the most prepared to be the President and has an unparalleled ability to connect with voters.

On a day when most of our opponents in both parties were obsessing (Hillary) about their fundraising fortunes, or keeping them a secret (obama) to WOW us, perhaps .... Joe Biden was working the corridors of the Iowa State House and the living rooms of rural activists.

On the most beautiful sun-lit porch you've ever seen in Cumming, Iowa, Senator Biden lit into the Bush-Cheney Iraq policy with Keith Olbermann on Countdown on MSNBC. Inside, the assembled caucus-goers applauded while watching on TV, before Senator Biden came in to answer their questions with his trademark candor and attention to detail.

The next day, Senator Biden spoke at Drake University Law School in Des Moines to a packed house of students, faculty and local activists. The speech, an intellectual tour-de-force, of the Bush Administration's abuse of constitutional power and American civil liberties, served as a catalyst to sign-up numerous new supporters. While others get the gossip column vote, Senator Biden is locking up hard support. Here is the coverage from the Des Moines register.

Undoubtedly, the most poignant moment of the trip came at the end of the question and answer session after the speech. With the typical scene of the Senator insisting on taking virtually every last question and his aides (me included) begging for him to end, Joe called on a middle-aged man who had waited patiently to be called on in this crowd of graduate students.

"My son," the man explained, "was killed in Iraq. Can we ever achieve an outcome which justifies his sacrifice," the man asked.

"Yes," Senator Biden replied. And, for the next fifteen minutes, Joe explained how he would solve the Iraq crisis so it wouldn't leave chaos in its wake.

In the reception afterward, this heroic father stood with his other son, the twin brother of the fallen soldier, waiting to meet Joe and get his picture taken. He wore a Biden for President sticker.

I guess that's what the press calls taking too long.

As many of you know, this week we also launched our new web domain, HeadToHead08.com. Using publicly available video from You Tube, we created a web site to compare the candidate's views on Iraq.

Of course, one video cannot capture the depth of the experience or knowledge any candidate brings to the table. But, it is our hope that Head to Head '08 will help begin a dialogue on the issues among the candidates, particularly the most important issue of our time, ending the war in Iraq.

It's been a great week so far and I can report without equivocation that Iowa is wide open in every respect.

Frankly, I'm so FUCKING sick of the bragging about war chests ... what does this DO for the American people? Get behind someone suspect because someone with deep pockets likes them? So, what then? The deep pockets person controls them. Can't the American people LEARN that the candidate with their best interests in mind is THE candidate for the greater good?
Obama already tried to smear Joe Biden over a simple comment and tried to color it like Biden was biased. Get real. I wrote his campaign and told them to KNOCK IT OFF. That, alone is a sign that Obama's goal is NOT to unite the Democrats. And, that is exactly what I told him.

Such bullshit this age of apologia for saying the 'wrong' thing.

Except for Newt. Newt needs to just shut the hell up.

Take a look at Joe Biden. He managed to catch my eye and I can't stand candidates normally. I definitely like he and John Edwards. There is definitely a big money fear factor towards these two men as they have both been attacked in the MainStreamMedia just as Howard Dean was. That says it all.

Give him a look. See how he measures up. I think he will be the Democratic nominee when it comes down to it .......

Second, whoo hooo just when you think it can't get any worse --- for god's sake these people are going to kill someone. Maybe me. Maybe another one of them. They don't seem to mind any more than JEBO666 (their hero along with dubya) minded as the bodies piled up behind his desk. I tell you, I wouldn't be comfortable hanging around people who don't care if you're alive or dead as long as you do what you're told. And that's exactly what these people are who are stalking me. (Straight from the civil service test OR straight from prison, bypass the civil rights, on my trail and me sticking up for them to get their rights back .... but that's because the most important thing is that the right thing is done)

WHY do they think that anyone cares about THEM as they attend funeral after funeral? Some of their coolest young friends? Some of the best among them? Are they really all so stupid to think they are indispensable and life is full of coincidental accidents and bad motorcycle handlebars? Live by the sword die by the sword I guess. Or they are scared. Stop being so weak. Stand up. Know where you stand and stand there and stop hiding behind your mommy. What ever happened to not following behind your parents' mistakes? This has gone on for generations in Tampa.

I didn't choose that lifestyle and I'm not going to be dragged into it by weaker minds.

Today my tire was flat again. (That's five if you're keeping track; pictified but boring, no?? Who wants to look at pictures of flat tires???) Of course, even though I wouldn't BOTHER reporting it to them (and god knows where they'd file it, maybe under information????) --- if you call the Tampa Police Dept. they are happy to tell you that if your vandalism does not result in permanent damage they are not interested.(it's possible they only tell ME that; as I've said, my calls are not routed properly the few times I've ever called them) (of course I just laughed because that's just so funny !!) So, that leaves people with few options other than what I intend to do because this is obviously continuing ..... and --- I've asked politely enough times.

AND, Bill McCollum is worried about felons making laws??

Sheesh, he better worry more about these characters. Except I'm pretty sure they're all related ..... Advised on the laws by fellow city employees, the sons and daughters of city/county employees go forth. (you name it -- any position, chances are their kid is out committing damage on another human being -- with full protection of the entire city power structure behind them. They think.)

BUT --- in my letters to Jo/ ** (upcoming) we'll see how sometimes they push it a bit too far.

The car was very bad today. I can see where the toxin that is used on the car would cause one to believe they were having a serious health problem. (from my reading I believe it is fire-retardant or some type of pesticide sprayed on the engine) Maybe numb your throat or make you feel like you're having a heart-attack or a stroke. Sometimes you have to pull the car over to breathe fresh air again. The sword cuts both ways. Here you take a moment to walk around the car and then you see where they let the air out of your tire again. Picture. Satellite. Click. Done.

I know better.

I have amassed a huge collection of people's faces who somehow end up with me everywhere I go. Then sometimes they disappear to be replaced by more of the same --- and then reappear. And their cars. Everyone running out to get new cars ... (LOL!!) You're welcome, Dodge. (most of em in dodges ---)

Florida to (NEARLY automatically what's that mean??) restore felons' civil rights

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Most felons released from prison will have their voting and other civil rights nearly automatically restored under a rule approved Thursday by Republican Gov. Charlie Crist and the state clemency board.

Like with most other things: Florida can't seem to get it quite right. Before I laud Governor Crist on this action, I'll have to know more. At least I call him Governor. That's more than JEBO666 ever got from me. Except in email. Which he DID answer.

All but the most violent felons would avoid the need to get on a long list for a hearing before the board, which sometimes takes years.

The board voted 3-1 with Attorney General Bill McCollum, another Republican, strongly objecting to changing the Jim Crow-era ban on felons automatically getting their rights back once they finish their sentences.

The issue was spotlighted after the disputed 2000 presidential election, when many non-convicts were purged from voter rolls because the state's felons database was plagued with errors.

Florida was one of three U.S. states along with Kentucky and Virginia that make felons take action to restore their civil rights. In most other states, those rights are restored once people completes their sentence, probation or parole.

About a million released offenders in Florida haven't regained rights that include voting, holding public office, the ability to serve on a jury, and eligibility for many occupational licenses.

Crist has made it clear since before he was governor that he was in favor of making it easier for felons who have done their time to vote. He pushed the measure forcefully, and rejected McCollum's assertion that it was welcoming the worst of the worst back into society too easily.

After someone has served their time, Crist said they should get their rights back as a matter of justice.

Still, Crist's plan was a compromise, carving out murderers and other violent felons who would still have to either go before the board for a hearing or at least be subject to review.

Voting with Crist for the plan were Republican Agriculture Commissioner Charlie Bronson and state Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink, a Democrat.

A recent federal lawsuit challenged Florida's rights ban on grounds that it disproportionately affected blacks. The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected that argument in 2005, noting Florida first banned felon voting in 1845 - before blacks were allowed to vote. The U.S. Supreme Court later let that decision stand.

The ban was put into the state constitution in 1868.

Social Security. The president's earlier nomination of Biggs, an outspoken advocate of partially privatizing the government's retirement program, was rejected by Senate Democrats in February.

On another OH BROTHER .....

The city is just a wonderin ... WHY ON EARTH some neighborhoods don't recycle.

Here's your answer: Ask the unvaunted City of Tampa Dept of Solid Waste and/or the City of Tampa garbage folks.

They NEVER pick it up. I was one of the first with recycling bins this last go round and they left it there EVERY time. Every time. Never failed in their duty to leave it at the curb. Now I use it to collect cans in the backyard and give them to the neighbor.

And, we're not the only neighborhood. In North Tampa there are regular complaints of no pickups.

These people are so out of touch. They'd pay over 120,000 dollars instead of just asking the residents.

Of course the South Tampa people participate. They city garbage workers wouldn't DARE skip a house there. It might be anyone .... cop. Cop married to a judge. judge married to a commish.... gotta watch out.

I have a friend in Seminole Heights who actually had to chase down the garbage truck one day and bring them her trash. Different neighborhoods get VASTLY different service.

And, it might be interesting to know how this contract was awarded. Kessler
