Edwin Starr --- THANK YOU.

It's nice when you're sitting safe in America (hiding behind your sparlking big ass SUV no doubt LOL) and sending the young men and women off to die. Then to top THAT off profiting from it and advocating it while you advocate wars against other innocents while you shield the eyes of your children from 'the ugly stuff' that YOU are fostering. (Isn't this like Barbara Bush?? but no that's not babs I'm talking about just another Republican who slithered into the Democratic party and is up to no good) That's a wide burden for you to be dragging around, RepaDemwallawallabingbang. I sure don't envy it. Nice to be me. Peace in my heart and on my lips and in my actions. My family sees the world for what it is and we work to make it what we would like to leave to the children. Which, yes, puts us at odds with war-mongers and haters. But we don't hate them just because they hate us. We kinda just laugh. Maybe they can evolve if they keep at it with their bachelor's degrees .....

Then you have Jan -- whose husband's life is on the line every day in Iraq and she is quick to flashes of anger, perhaps. (i didn't really understand the anger (over the bumpersticker) either but I might if I were jan) To me that bumpersticker was a statement against all war. I wonder if Jan would feel differently if her husband were a landscaper or a stockbroker so she did not have to take it so personally. I get Jan. Her husband is gone in a dangerous alter-world. She's alone, it's hard. She's creating a dialogue and tries to just put it out there every day. If she won me over --- she's the genuine article.

But, in some ways it's VERY American to take it personally. Don't try to tell an immigrant who gave her HEART to America what the fuck an American is. YOU give your heart to America and then we'll talk. That's probably not going to happen .... but there is always hope.

I have lots of military family, none of us were FOR war, though. It was a safe and productive way to make a living until Blackwater and the obvious dual-purpose of the Bush war(S) which seem to serve the intent of keeping stellar young Americans from making it back home. The ones who put men on leashes and torture them are celebrities. The good guys get blown away. Statistics support this. Anyone in my family gets a draft notice we have a safe place to tuck them away until hitler george is history and the next dictator too, if things don't go well. I'm back to poking around Vermont; an area I considered long before the secession news but that enhanced it some. LOL
