Supplemental funding plan is a blank check for Bush

Dear FCAN Activist,

President Bush refuses to acknowledge that his policy in Iraq has failed, so the only way to end the war before he leaves office - in January 2009 - is if Congress forces his hand. Sadly, the funding bill revealed for a vote as early as TONIGHT lacks any meaningful benchmarks or deadlines that would pave the way toward the end of the war.

Please contact your Representative, Senator Nelson and Senator Martinez today to urge them to oppose this blank check for endless war. You can reach their offices through the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said yesterday, "I'm not likely to vote for something that doesn't have a timetable or a goal," a position that reflects America's priorities and a commitment to end the war. A vote for the bill is a vote of endorsement for the president's policy of endless war.

Members of Congress who understand that the president's policy has failed and that it's time to bring the troops home should vote NO on the blank-check Iraq supplemental.
