Dear Friends:
For those of us chomping at the bit for a way to have impact at a time when "we the people" have been preempted by "they-the-very-few-people," here's a bit to chomp on. Apparently, Nancy Pelosi said that if she got 10,000 hand written letters from constituents, she'd put impeachment back on the table. Would she actually do it? Only one way to find out.
Afterdowningstreet.org has made it easy for us. Just download a post card here, add your handwritten note, put a stamp on it, and mail it to Nancy. Better yet, print out a bunch and invite 25 of your closest friends over and write them by hand. Do 'em in color. Have fun. Inundate the endarkened city of Washington, D.C. with light and life. Whatever you're feeling about the state of our land, put it on the card. We the people must now find our voices, and this is the place to start.
Look, it's not so much about cooking those two turkeys as it is giving ourselves something to be truly thankful about -- a small step towards return to the rule of law and government of, by and for the people where the government does our bidding, not the bidding of the highest bidder. The entire impeachable system deserves to be impeached, and this is the first step.
In a recent American Research Group poll, some 70% of Americans believe Vice President Cheney has abused his powers, and 43% believe these are impeachable offenses. Now of course, this is just public opinion, which has already been manipulated by the mass media to downplay the crimes of this Administration as "business as usual." Sadly, that's what it's become. Which is why now is the perfect time for an "up-wising" where more and more sleeping Americans are awakened to how far we've diverted from the original mission of this nation.
But let's go back to that 43%. According to the latest stats, there are about 200 million registered voters in the United States. If we took 43% of just the registered voters, that's 86 million people. If just 1% of those who believe our misleaders committed impeachable offenses rise to this mission, that's 860,000 post cards to Nancy. If we can't accomplish that, folks, then we might as well declare the body politic a cadaver.
I happen to think that a sleeping giant is awakening. This may be the first wave of something way bigger -- the realization that the reestablishment of moral authority in America is up to we the people. So ... here's how to proceed:
1. Make a commitment by setting an actual time between now and the end of this week to write and send a heartfelt, hand-written postcard to Nancy Pelosi (address below).
2. Print out enough postcards for several friends, and invite them over to do the same. Ceremoniously drop them in the mail box together. Imagine and affirm this same scenario being played out this week thousands of times over.
3. Forward this email to every individual and organization that cares about a better world, and ask them to write and send their postcard and pass this message along.
Remember, this is not just about impeachment. It is one proactive step towards a government that protects the people instead of the predators. Our children and their children are counting on us.

As you probably know, Dennis Kucinich proposed House Resolution 333 for the impeachment of Vice President Dick Cheney. Last week the resolution was sent back to the Judiciary Committee for "further study." This maneuver, organized by Pelosi and the Democratic leadership, is consistent with their mantra that impeachment is "off the table."
However, some House members not associated with Kucinich's resolution are now openly calling for immediate hearings into Cheney's impeachable actions-specifically lying the country into a war in Iraq, and threatening war with Iran. Rep. Robert Wexler (D-FL), not a cosponsor of the resolution, has called for the Judiciary Committee to take up the impeachment resolution, admitting that, "Cheney and the Bush Administration have demonstrated a consistent pattern of abusing the law and misleading Congress and the American people."
Because of popular pressure, even those who have wanted nothing to do with impeachment, are now willing to give impeachment its day in court. Congressional representatives are being deluged by their constituents demanding that the House act on impeachment.
Impeachment is on the move and - if you support this move - NOW is the time to act. We understand that Speaker Nancy Pelosi has said she will put Impeachment of Vice President Cheney back on the table if she gets 10,000 hand written letters asking her to do it. It would be good to send a copy of your letter to Pelosi to your congressman as well. Depending on your level of passion about this matter, it would be great to also forward this email to others who may share your interest.
Your letter should at least call for an open House debate and hearings on impeachment. If nothing else, these hearings should finally bring to light all of the lies we have been told that brought us into this war and is currently costing us 10 BILLION dollars a month - not to mention the thousands of US deaths and perhaps hundreds of thousands of Iraqi deaths.
If you agree with this, please get a letter out this week.
