Nancy Bostock BACK AT IT

Okay, this is the THIRD rerun of this story about the school-board member dropping her adopted child back off. This one is loaded with the same full story adding some plaintive details of sleeping on the couch, need to plaster walls and etc.....
It's all VERY transparent.

Here's what she thinks would help. Please NOTICE there is NOTHING in 'her wish list for children' that is REMOTELY helpful towards a child. ONLY interest is in letting adoptive parents off the hook from the promise they make to love the child. They fell in love with his shy smile but apparently NOT SO MUCH. Please, he works for Honeywell and she's raking up schoolboard dough and who knows what else? They can't help this child monetarily??

ALL CHILDREN NEED HELP. Families are dismantled without a whit of concern by the DCF.

Please note all her wonderful ideas for 'helping the children'. We've already determined that she's a christian fundie and very judgmental .... you'll notice the 'reader' comments this time were quickly skewed in 'her favor' Very little negative. I've watched the St Pete Times pull this trick previously more than once. One time that's real clear was over the Mayor Baker slashing the homeless tents. They kept rerunning that until enough of his cronies could jump on and say atta boy ricky. One less now that John Bryan offed himself after molesting HIS adopted daughters. Speaking of which: Look at all the places we find Mayor Ricky. Advocating the actions of a child-molester, crying at his funeral, lauding his virtue, hushing down the story on the firefighters covering up criminal records involving coaches and children and also rubbing elbows with everyone making money off st pete.....

Less than 1 percent of infant adoptions are terminated, experts say. Eighty percent of adoptions of older children with special needs are successful.

To help foster children with attachment issues - and their families - Nancy Bostock suggests these reforms to the foster care system:

- Infants and toddlers in foster care should be moved into permanent, stable homes as soon as possible. (been down THIS road about a million times, ask Karen Givers)

- Foster care workers should be trained in attachment issues. (or at least trained, been here before, too)

- Potential parents should be told about attachment issues their child might face. (this should be a BIG DUH>>>>> )

- After adoption, parents should have access to respite care, out-of-home care and mental health services for their children. The state should continue to fund those services, as it does for foster children. (all parents and caregivers should have access to these services for children who are more than a handful)

- If an adoption has to be terminated, parents should not be charged with abandonment and should be allowed to maintain contact with the child. Parents should not have to pay child support for a child sent back to the state.

- - - I hope at least a few people email Nancy and let her know that adoptive parents, especially those who RETURN the child are just not any more special than ALL PARENTS. All children deserve equal access.

And I agree with Tony: If she can't handle this she needs to stay away from schools. We've got enough problems in public schools.

You can always tell when these GOP'rs and fundies are trying to run something up the flagpole. Don't fall for the rotten sentiment.

She just wants OFF THE HOOK.

Bostock family, thank you for your love and courage. You are modern day saints. By you adopting kids you are saving the State millions of dollars so the least the State can do is support these kids' medical needs. God bless you all.

Food For Thought - the "Right to Lifers" do not take into consideration the hell these unwanted children go through in foster care system. Why force women to have babies they don't want? The taxpayers pay over and over again for this type of tragedy

It's long overdue for the state to finally acknowledge what adoptive parents have endured. I know of many similiar situations and the parents were always made out to be the dysfunctional one. Thank you for opening the eyes of those who might help.

anyone critizing these people should spend a day in their shoes.unless you live it,you can't know what is like.i am raising two children with special needs.each day i face this same decision.this family is very brave to do this.be glad it isn't you.

Ms. Bostock - Time for you to walk away from the school board as well. Someone who won't care for her child should not be overseeing mine. Move on to something else. You can not be effective at the school board any longer.

Manic Depression is now called Bipolar Disorder, and it does not sound like he has that at all. He definitely sounds like he has Reactive Attachment Disorder. That poor family. I hope they can all heal, including the boy.

Often adopted kids will push people away to prove themselves right - that you WILL give up on them & that no one will love them forever. Psychs make it worse - "experts" cant agree and do a lot of damage. There are other self-help solutions.

This sure sounds like he has some form of manic depression.He knows he has her because she is so desperate to care for him.Personally,I would cut off contact & move.Leave him an email address so he can contact you when he wants your love.

At four years old he had been placed in over 7 foster care homes. Gee, how well he foster care system works. Because of the sheer number of children being born of drug addicts and boozers - perhaps orphanages should be reconsidered.

Excellent article! I'm amazed at the patience of the Bostocks. They're honesty will help others. I see similarities to their story and what the Dungy family went through loosing their son. God bless. (OH MY GOD, this is definitely a weird one)
