Don't WORRY he can be a Fireman now ! !
Deputy Brock would like to thank all of you citizens for your generosity. Not only have we supported him while he arrested dozens of poor folks ILLEGALLY but now we'll pay him a fine and LARGE retirement. Or he'll become a fireman and then keep dipping. That's what the guy did who they suspect had something to do with beating the kid to death in Clearwater. He became a fireman. Come ON ---- he's NOT the only one. Gotta stay in the same retirement system.
Hillsborough admits he may have wrongly jailed dozens of drivers. (PULEEZE) if they fired him he must have done something even MORE heinous, or someone there decided they don't like him. Gee. Me too. There shouldn't BE any shining stars in DUI or anything else. No stand out Tampa code enforcers like the guy who helped his family buy houses in Tampa by selectively code-enforcing the current occupants. It's WRONG for a city employee to use insider knowledge to acquire property by any means necessary and in the process (of course) defraud a homeowner. I'm sure the guy is a fireman by now.
I DO know that he no longer works for the Code Dept or so they told my family member (like I should believe THEM?? LOL) He 'retired' after it was related that he recommended realtors for the sale of a home that was 'NOT for sale'. No one wanted the guy to get in trouble. As if he did. Lateral Transfer just like those responsible for neglecting children who are with the Dept. of Children and Families. Being a native of Tampa he was just making his bones for the man. People just wanted him to leave them alone and do his job with A ETHIC in mind. (or at least fairly) So, that puts the 'complainers' in an uncomfortable position of noting quickly that every time they complain the person who has had the position for YEARS disappears. What good does that do for anyone? They just go do more damage elsewhere to innocent victims and before their names pop up again ... who knows what heinous stuff they will do?
You may note that voxers don't name names. Long standing practice of courtesy among Tampa folks. LOL!! However, some of these people aren't Tampa folks and voxers owe them nothing. Also, since the harassment continues unabated voxers gonna have to rethink that position. Sad to say. Push anyone far enough and you never know WHAT you will get.

TAMPA -- Daniel Brock won high praise for jailing impaired motorists. Mothers Against Drunk Driving honored him. So did his bosses.
But one of Hillsborough County's most aggressive DUI deputies may have wrongly sent dozens of people to jail, the Sheriff's Office acknowledged Thursday.
The agency fired Brock on May 24.
In one year, Brock arrested 58 people whose blood-alcohol content was below 0.08, the level at which state law presumes a driver is impaired, an internal affairs audit showed.
"I don't prescribe to the theory that somehow you have to be 0.08 to be drunk or impaired," Brock, 38, told investigators.
A driver may be charged with driving under the influence if the blood-alcohol level is between 0.05 and 0.08 percent, but there must be other evidence of impairment, such as a swerving vehicle.
In 43 of those 58 cases, motorists demonstrated no visible impairment behind the wheel, according to an internal affairs report made public Thursday. In 41 arrests, Brock also failed to make a case with urine samples, the report states.
Repeatedly, investigators found Brock reported failures in field sobriety tests when his patrol car videocamera documented the opposite. He wrote, for instance, that a driver on Oct. 25, 2005, lost balance while turning. The video of the encounter showed that wasn't the case. The driver blew a 0.01 in the breath test but was arrested anyway.
He said drivers incorrectly recited the alphabet, used arms for balance and slurred speech -- when the video showed correct alphabets, perfect balance and clear speech.
Brock told investigators he believed the drivers were all impaired.
"My goal is to go there, process the person and be gone, out to the next one," he said.
Records show he pulled people over on DUI stops 17 times while his cruiser was occupied with other prisoners. That's against procedure.
He routinely filed arrest reports days, even weeks, after making an arrest. He told internal affairs Detective Bruce Crumpler that he always reported the results of field sobriety tests based on memory.
Wouldn't that leave room for errors, Crumpler asked.
"Well, there's room for error," Brock told Crumpler. "I've never had a problem."
His paperwork became the subject of scorn at the Hillsborough State Attorney's Office, where prosecutors said the deputy tarnished his reputation by filing inaccurate arrest reports that lacked important details.
"He doesn't have a very good reputation for being a very good DUI officer that we care to work with," prosecutor Jennifer Gabbard told Crumpler. "It's almost like whatever you can do to make it look like you're arresting people."
From October 2005 to October 2006, Brock made 313 arrests for driving under the influence.
He failed to activate his cruiser's audio and video equipment in 40 percent of his stops, instead relying on his "wrought memory" to recall important arrest details, the audit showed.
Within the Sheriff's Office, Deputy Brock previously had been praised for his "outstanding professional service" and was consistently recommended for raises. His superiors rated his performance "satisfactory" and called him a credit to the office.
He was lauded as a dedicated deputy who spoke to high school students about the perils of impaired driving.
"We always felt he was a good officer," said Becky Gage, 55, the victim advocate for Hillsborough's MADD chapter. "As long as officers are within the scope of the law, then we support their efforts to remove impaired drivers."
But there were a few bumps in the road.
He was suspended and sent to driving school in 2000 after a string of what the Sheriff's Office deemed avoidable traffic accidents.
In 2006, he was named in a federal lawsuit alleging that he physically attacked the mother of a teenage boy he arrested in 2002. The Hillsborough County woman said Brock forced himself into her home, pushed her into a corner and sprayed her with pepper spray. The lawsuit is unresolved.
During the recent internal affairs investigation, Brock denied trying to boost numbers.
It was unclear Thursday whether Brock intends to appeal his firing.
He told investigators that given the chance, he would conduct his DUI stops the same way.
Said Brock: "I mean, perfect world, we need more deputies and fewer people."

You guys are being way too hard on the deputy. I'm sure he would make a fine security guard - I hear there are openings at Countryside mall.

is the county going to reimburse the people wrongly arrested and expunge the record, i doubt it. Just another example of our present police state that exists.. God help us all, this officer should be jailed for a long time and certification taken.

Another case of abuse of power! These types of officers who go into law enforcement have good intentions, but somehow get off track and commit morale and ethical breaches of societal laws.

More deputies and fewer peoople, where do police departments find these guys. Typical ...everyone is the bad guy we are the good guy attitude. While I am at it MADD is about one thing anti drinking. They could care less about deaths on the highway.

The Governor (Texas) pardoned them and the state had to pay them as well. I cannot believe the Hills., Sherriff did not rein this guy in earlier. I know Law Enf., is demanding! However, his integrity should have never come to question so often! Wow!
by Gilbert 06/15/07 06:23 AM
No video or disputed video evidence, late filing of charges, questionable Law Enforcement techniques? This kinda reminds me of Tulia, Tx. were a so-called Deputy worked undercover by himself and caused more than 45 people to go to jail innocently!!!

What a rotten scumbag. I wonder how many people's lives he ruined, how many jobs were lost, marriages were damaged, etc., because Barney Fife decided he was the policeman of the world.

Having been a cop for my entire career,I am offended by this jerks actions and his attitude. This guy is what we don't need enforcing the law. More deputies and fewer people? Brock, you're an idiot. Thanks for tarnishing my badge.
by Jack 06/15/07 05:00 AM
This deputy is really, really bad news; making marginal arrests to run up the scoreboard. I wonder what the system will do to help these people who might have lost jobs, legal fees, and untold hours of court-imposed burdens.
by Beverly 06/15/07 04:47 AM
OMG!!!! This man should have been fired long ago!! Another case of someone given a badge and the ego goes haywire.
by Spud777 06/15/07 04:34 AM
Good Riddance Deputy Brock. Police that lie under oath are especially dangerous since they have the power to arrest and ruin people's lives. I think Deputy Brock should be prosecuted for perjury. (I have never met him so it is not personal.

"I mean, perfect world, we need more deputies and fewer people.".... This guy is sick! I hope they took his gun. Imagine how many peoples lives he has negatively affected....********************************************************
