Crews contain 100-acre brush fire in Riverview
});
RIVERVIEW — Crews contained a 100-acre brush fire that started Sunday afternoon near Big Bend Road and Balm Riverview Road, officials said.
"It's not out, but it's fully contained and under control," said Dan Dye, a Hillsborough Fire Rescue chief, on Sunday night.
The fire, which was to the southwest of the intersection of Big Bend and Balm Riverview Roads, had threatened several structures, but no damage to them was reported, said Rebekah Brant, a duty officer with state Division of Forestry.
Fire crews closed a portion of Big Bend Road to battle the blaze, but reopened the road about 6:30 p.m., Brant said.
The fire was believed to have started from the catalytic converter of a car that was pulled off the side of the road, officials said.[Last modified: Jan 09, 2011 08:30 PM] Click here for reuse options!

WHOSE car?? Was it a firefighter or a relative of one or just a crackhead they know??? 8505 mitchell avenue home to crack deals and errant visits by firetrucks. NOW has a firefighter sticker in the window. Go have a look. I smell development coming to 100 acres in riverview. So much for protecting your land. What needs to happen is the firemen and their families need to be on GPS monitoring until we stop them from setting fires everywhere...
