Priests Trains and Automobiles

All those years God was still a mystery to me that I wasn't ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE, because I am the world's foremost skeptic, (okay not the world's foremost anymore or ever just being dramatic) that there was really, truly a god. I mean I was PRETTY SURE. Then when my nephew was thirteen all that changed the night I took him to a movie. We were pretty good friends because I was only a few years older than him.

On the way home we saw Jesus together. Why us? I think I know NOW. And that's what makes everything okay. Some folks are going to need more REAL COURAGE. REAL REAL REAL COURAGE. Not the kind given you by a knife, gun, gang, hulkiness, etc.... (steroids) tin badges, cars with bubble lights. REAL GUTS REAL COURAGE. I never even realized I had guts. That had to be pointed out to me. I just do what I want. Pretty much always. Someone comes along that wants to make me believe I am in their box ... well, they're going to create themselves a big problem. Of course, some folks you're perfectly happy accomodating. The right man, the right woman, the dear friend ... the beloved grandfather ... you'll happily climb in any box and pull the flaps down so that their lives will be enhanced. That's love.

I remember this: I remember when I felt so close to god that I really thought I'd open my eyes and be there. If you could wish yourself away from here I'd be gone. Only temporarily. I had some things to check on. Remembering in Field of Dreams when James Earl Jones walks away into the cornfield.

But, it took little Mother Theresa to clarify things:

'Mother Teresa said, "Never are you closer to God than when you are in total pain." ' I told her, I'm so focused on God. That's how I'm handling the pain.' (third person kinda thing I just copied and pasted) But I remember that.

And, God has never forgotten how close I was to HIM, either. Ever.

In fact, I think He's fair indulgent with me because I am totally, flagrantly, avowedly, purposely invested in living my own way.

Come what may.

But I never forget.

I can't believe sometimes that I could have become any kinder than I always was. But I have.

I truly really care for other people and do NOT consider that a liability.

One day I'll be able to do more about those feelings.

Every day I work towards that.

Anyway ... that sentence was interesting.

Now, when I'm troubled which happens ... I think of lil Jason Isbell and his ...... 'let the night air cool you off' ....

when people are trying to take your VERY AIR from you .. I think that nothing is good enough to punish them. But, then I remember that's NOT my job.

I'm still going to do my part.

And, thanks for the reminder.

I can't WAIT til New Year's Eve.

Always a fresh, beautiful feeling. I'm going to take a long walk in the cool night air.

Chaser Lights

We talk about a lot of things at vox talk but sometimes the personal stuff is spilling out because it's A LOT of the story of the corrupt, murderous, TAINTED WATER secret and sickness of Tampa FL. Which, if must (up to you) be will be talked about until the proverbial donkey doth take wing.

So, now, Tampa Firemen, don't getcher selves all excited and tremulous because yknow YOU CANNOT burn our house down. In fact, where my family is concerned (read: ANYONE I KNOW) your house-burning days are OVA. Anyway ... we're putting up our Christmas tree. Because, despite your best stinky efforts we're here and we gwine to be here and be here until you come up with what we want. Which, really isn't MUCH. Considering we can demand that you make us millionaires (more on that another post) and considering that we can keep this up for four generations at least. LMAO. You projecting out that far? I know SOMEONE IS. That's the someone using the rest of you. Any old way ....

We're putting up the Christmas tree and yknow how I talk a lot about my sister that YOU MURDERED? Yes, you did. I know it. You know it. I don't care who else knows it. OJ. Anyway .... she LOVED LOVED Christmas. Along with my mama. (re read that part about MURDER) and my beloved family member who was also lost (hate to be redundant but back to that murder part again) and then my uncle(s) and here we're going to have to yknow ... go back and rake up murder, murder and MURDER again.

But, back to the Christmas tree. So .... we're putting the lights on the tree and got to the part where there is a string of lights bought with my sister in mind. She loved these ugly things: the chaser lights. Hate em. Like everything the same ... every year. Tradition. Plain. No tinsel. Given my way I'd chop down my own tree, drag it through the friggin snow, plunk it down and yknow .... I probably would just grow a bunch outside my door ... tried that with one but the scumbags came around with their tree-murdering-juice. LMAO. I have other pictures of houses they did this at. Chemistry SIX SIX SIX.

So, the chaser lights are a constant confoundment. Sometimes they just go on the tree and get shoved back in the branches, some years not even plugged in ... some years balled up behind the tree. They're not really there for THE TREE, they're there FOR ME and for her. Like other things I'll keep to myself. This year just touching them a feeling washed over me SO STRONGLY that my sister was RIGHT HERE. RIGHT HERE. And, of course, I started to cry because she always loved christmas SO MUCH (yes, here is where you JACK OFF YOU MURDERING MOTHERFUCKERS) and I can remember her pulling those stupid fucking chaser lights out of the bag (NO NO firepigs NOT the same strand I'm a frigging safety FREAK LOL) and showing them to me and telling me how she paid an ungodly sum (at the time) for them and she looked so happy. I chopped on her a lot (yeah that's my job) and told her how ugly they were and made me feel like puking when I looked at them. Especially the JEFF GORDON speed she set them at on the tree. She laughed. Was always laughing.

So, that was her next to last Christmas here, I think. I still hate those fucking lights. I bought a string the first year she was gone and have hated them more every year. But, they make me feel good which yeay ... is awesome. It's why I don't mind you stupid motherfuckers stalking me and threatening CHILDREN. It makes me feel so FUCKING GOOD TO NOT BE YOU.

Those goddamn lights. I stand back and instruct but for some reason this year I mixed it up with those fucking lights. They have never worked right. First of all, they're sickening. Second of all, the control thingy is .... morphing constantly in it's own state of flux worse than any welding I ever did. AND .... as usual, the fucking things are doing whatever it is they are instructed to do by this big awful controller that looks like a concealed weapon under the tree skirt. One year we had two or three maybe tree skirts just to ball those ugly bastards up under. They were there. That's what matters. I was born knowing what matters .... so there's that.

This year they landed on the tree.

I was standing in front of this tree thinking so clearly of her and the look on her face as she spread out her purchases.

I went back to fucking with those lights.

They're working perfectly.


If she's not here ....... then Christmas lights improve with age.

My own Mother's and Father's Day

There are times I am so grateful for the family I was given, many of whom were murdered by some who weren't as fortunate as I was .... ----- sometimes my gratitude doesn't really overlap with the days it's 'supposed to.' The societally recognized days.

I prefer to think of it as 'blind luck' that God gave me because it was one of those tools I would need too frequently ... for many reasons. I do almost run on auto-pilot. There are times I consciously live DIRECTLY in the moment but those are strictly related to the people I genuinely care for. It's a huge effort for me to 'be present' because I really, truly am a dreamer.

My Mama always knew. I was the easiest, hardest child to raise. Without my Father, who was murdered before I really got going, without quite realizing it I turned to my Grandfather and uncles or inward. Not to my Mom. I could see she had her hands full and Iwas naturally quiet, anyway. Shy. Still both.

You have to push a person like myself pretty far to drip even one moment of closely guarded privacy out into another's ear, never mind the WWW. But, these aren't really MY secrets I speak of ... not even really secrets. Everone knows this stuff. No one minds as long as it is not directed towards them. There's a reason for that.

Anyway ... I went to private schools. Didn't really want to. Was the only argument I had with my Mom .... NOT GOING THERE NEXT YEAR. NOT GOING BACK. LOL. Sure and there I was sitting in the same fucking desk the next day. By hook or by crook.

You'd look at these people ... I actually liked school. I like learning stuff, it gave me access to things that you didn't get out in 'the country' and that's where we lived at the time. (first house that the ummmmm fire ummm fighters burnt down and then subsequently stole my mother's awesome antique car collection.

My Mom always knew what mattered.

The people? They were pretty cool. I kinda more observed and wandered through it all, sometimes more ummmmm upright than others. I worked after school and had an older significant other and a few people I genuinely liked and you know ... in my mind I was never there because it never really mattered other than that's what my Mom and Grandpa wanted me to do.

But sometimes you'd look at these people and their bright smiles and you'd know the little things that were missing in your own life and just for a TEENY TINY second you'd wonder ... wow, she looks nice and happy. Wonder what it's like to go home with a handsome brother to a nice family where they're all alive and a future laid before them. Not even really thought that hard about it. But a few people in particular I remember thinking .... wow, lucky girl or lucky guy.

My Mom always knew.

Today .. yknow --- it's one of those days that was driven home to me WAY DEEP how goddamn lucky I am to be who I am, born to the family I had and walking into a home as full of love as a heart can make it.

I'm sorry you had it different.

Your brother is a MONSTER. I hope you didn't know it at the time and had that pretty smile plastered on for all the world ... I'm glad I only wondered for a second because honest.
