What's Scary about Barack Obama

I'm creating this post in the interest of illuminating what meow_missy feels is a blank area in the commentary from folks who find barack obama and his contemporaries and some of his supporters frightening but don't expand on it.

As stated, she says she reads this a great deal in the blogosphere, that folks find barry obama frightening .... but no one ever cites their reasons or gives the necessary backup for their 'feelings'. You know, sometimes it IS just a feeling and I respect that but, in my case I did actually search and do the reading.
Why?
Because people I love and respect support him. I don't.

Now I feel I have no choice but the question was posed and the answer will eventually be given. Again. Because ... lord knows I've blogged it quite a bit.

Instead of confining it to email I'll let this be the standard and repository for my own 'feelings' and knowledge and the place where I gather together the thoughts and events that transpired over two or so years which led me to make the statement that I find Barack Obama to be frightening.

I didn't come to this 'wariness' in a fell swoop ... I started out wary of John Edwards.(boyfriend told me he was a corporate shill ... so naturally I was wary)

Before John I was wary of Hillary Clinton. I saved Barry Obama for last because of all of them .. back two years ago I felt he'd be a lost cause but one of the better candidates. At this point it should probably be understood that Dennis Kucinich would be my first choice. But, the media would NOT have him .... When I realized I might be voting for obama for el presidente unidos las americas ... I started looking very hard at him. hmmm. Made me a Hillary 'fan' and if that wasn't a shock to my system you should have been the lesbian (self-labeled) who approached me in Publix to talk about her love for Hillary and why on earth I'd wear a John Edwards rainbow pin .... (it AIN'T your rainbow it's MINE TOO) She was a really nice lady but neither one of us convinced the other .... later, I jumped to her side out of the fire into the frying pan. IMO.

AND, Obama and his contemporaries and supporters and some of his family members changed my mind all by themselves and their sometimes more than vaguely threatening ways .... in my general and extraneous reading and observation over the course of the 'historic' campaign both of obama personally and his supporters here and there both live and in the blogosphere.

Today I'm putting my efforts in to impeachment. I have extremely limited internet time. For instance it's 4:35 pm and I'm just getting started.

(update it's almost 6:30 and I'm just getting to finish this after a quick post at FPC)

However I DID promise Jennifer an email today expounding on why I find barack frightening. Because I've had ZERO time and because it's probably going to take hours to go back through my blog and different events and publications to illuminate this subject properly and respectfully .....

This came up in the florida progressive coalition yahoo group email. Thing is I do not even really DO email. There are a VERY VERY limited number of folks I email semi-semi-regularly .... and since it's inception for the world at large I find email a total waste of time. And very unreliable. And very hard on folks' emotions.

If I'm going to put hours and hours of thought and time into an answer I'm going to put it to as much use as possible. So, while this is written for Jennifer it's going to get a much wider audience due to my background in motion-saving expertise.

I also disagree with the fact that people need to stay on focus or on-topic in email. Email, especially in the group setting seems more like a conversation to me. Most conversations are not a focus or a topic unless you specifically meet, say, to discuss what color to wear to the party ... or whatever..... Other than that, the general flow of conversation goes all over the place or at least it does in every group I've ever enjoyed (in person).....

At any rate, for myself, a person who considers email a waste of time and generally holds yahoo groups in some suspicion ... and yep, I always have --- rather than just quit the group I'm going to go back to reading the emails weeks after the fact as I used to and not really replying. Either I'm not really good at group protocol or I'm just not a very group-y person. BUT, there are those in the group (Jennifer included) whom I admire and respect.

I went to look up her email to mention to her that I was not forgetting my statement to get to this matter today and found about fifteen emails supporting barack and whoops, looks like soon it's getting to be a barry group. LOL. Which to me, belongs on the list of reasons I find him frightening.

As I get time I'll disclose why, over the years, I found Barack Obama to be frightening rather than the top choice for President of the United States.

The only reason I'll throw support to him is that in my opinion it would be at least a HAIR worse to have fright-boy mcrich mccain at the helm.

And, for me, that's part of the plan ..... if John McCain weren't so equally despised by Republicans AND Democrats, Barack would have no chance and we'd be well and truly fucked.

But, it wasn't so long ago (before all the bad press oprah lavished on mccain) that john mccain was widely admired. (vietnam war prisoner, generally not a nut despite being a republican, etc.....)

That's one of the BIGGEST reasons I'm afraid of barack obama. The bought media in his favor. People don't even KNOW anymore how they are being led around.

They forget (i have to assume) who is behind the media today, what time magazine REALLY IS and where the economist sprung from.

I don't want to think that folks who think of themselves as progressive are in the "oprah cult" but hey, tv comforts some -- for me it's ODIOUS. Especially oprah and all other reality and talk shows with very few exceptions. And, I love the boys from supernatural for this line : "A LOT of fucked up things happen in Florida". How true. A fan was born.

And then there's my black twinner, Steve Gilliard who held barack at arm's length just as I am .... hmmmm ... (and sadly died just like tons of others who seem to be dismayed by barack yep that's TRUE ... made a list)

There's Cornel West who spoke against Obama and there's the whole Oprah CULT that supports him.
That's what I have time for today .... because I have some personal details and some impeachment details to hone in on.
More from me on this as I have time.

For me these are up for discussion but usually I don't have the ability to change my mind. I'm going to watch the man in action.

Please believe me when I say that nothing will make me happier than to eat every word I've said and to watch this country smile again. I don't think it's going to happen.

How happy I will be to keep both eyes on barack obama and watch him FLOURISH along with America.

Please, Barack, prove me wrong.

I promised Jennifer an email. It seemed at the time that setting an entire day aside to work on it might be enough. THEN I realized how much blogging I have done on the subject. Not even every time he scared me. Just sometimes. Because, believe it or not, I'm a respectful person.
But I'm not respectful enough to just roll OVER because someone likes a candidate that I feel needs more than 'tinkering under the hood'.

I don't think Jennifer reads my blog. I know she and I have a lot in common and probably a lot NOT in common.
But, I think she'll at least understand why almost a half day and one email which probably would have ruffled the feathers of more than a few FPC folks wasn't really called for.

So, I'll be adding to this as I have time.

Not because it really matters anymore.

Because I made a statement.

I meant it.

I was asked to explain.

I have many times.

I'll try to put it all in a nutshell.

Here's as good a start as it gets today.

In the end, I think what I share in common with most FPC bloggers is this: We want our country back.

What I don't share in common with them is THIS: I don't have to expound on that. They know it and I know it.
