Another Look at the Azalea Bulldogs

It comes as no big surprise to ME that MLB is a major supporter of the GOP. My god. What years of sys. admin. could NEVER DO, blogging finally did in less than a year: I speak in acronyms now. It's why I eventually decided that systems engineering was not for me: my utter inability to converse in acronym-ese depite my fluency in same .

ANYWAY, Sinfonian blogged about the amt. of dough that guys like A-Rod(he's a real role model) and other MLB players and organizations had pitched to Rudy, other Repubs and, of course, Hillary Clinton.
It all fits together. I challenge you to go to any ballpark or ANY little-league or church or one of these 'organized-youth-sponsor-type' (newish in FLORIDA; they popped up around 2000 hmmmmm and they are like Suncoast Youth Football Conference such as run Azalea Bulldogs and numerous other 'youth' teams) events and have a look and a walk around.

I can already tell you what you'll find. Rudy stickers, Ron Paul, Firefighter emblems, background checks (ignored if you have the right last name), creepy school-teachers' kids, (not the good school teachers; they have been ostracized), service folks (same thing here, not the ones from the light side) and basically your garden variety flag-pin-in-the-lapel, sunday go to bible beatin,, thug every other day of the week, etc....

The grooming has begun. The winnowing has begun. I never knew this until recently. I've been VERY VERY fortunate not to have been forced to trip around in 'soccer mom' shoes. And, yeah, I know there are some awesome, non-combative, non-GOP soccer moms. Just not that many. LOL. Anyway, youngn's I'm associated with dig other pursuits. We're thinkers tending to like chess, judo, anything on the piano, (LOL!) occasional football events, golf, drawing, art, ART ART almost any ol drafty or otherwise museum, video'ing, photogging, writing, frisbee, almost anything outside with normal people, soccer for fun, peace rallies, movies, readings, not-ready-for-prime-time flicks, tons of music and reading and poetry, orchestra, Washington DC protests (currently) individual sports and exercise, pilates, etc....

In other words, I"ve only had a few nascent glimpses at this AWFUL phenomenon of the terrible bastardization of youth sports, how that fits the bigger picture and why those parents REALLY ARE SO MEAN:

It's a BIG THING to them.

If they play their cards right. walk in lock-step, keep their mouths shut or open when told, and if little bobble-boy or girl doesn't throw his arm out by the time he's nine (seen that done here in Tampa) they will get to be A-Rod's mommy and daddy. Perfect marriage even though they outdrink and outsmear each other BY GOD they're MARRIED and you're gay and NOT.

Good loyal GOP'ers, fundies and etc.... (run ya dead over if they can get away with it)

If your kid is in youth sports and you are decent you're already seeing what's happening. An early march-lock-step in not thinking, not voting, (or voting 'the right way') ostracization, poor kids not welcome ... I understand that it USED TO BE they'd welcome you if you were 'good' but now they don't like the competition or to be 'shown up'. THAT would mean it would not be a DIRECT FEED from youth sports to major leagues for THEIR KID. That poor kid or that Democrat's kid or that kid with the wrong last name would get a valuable spot in the franchise that Mr.GOP wants for his kid or his friend's kid.

Of course, if you're a poor DUMB guy who is willing to sell his faithless soul your kid can go to the right school. LOL. Hope that's a comfort to you on your death bed and all. Considering that selling your soul sure involved some heinous stuff, huh?

So, there is no real recognition or competition for these kids anymore. Not all of them know it. But the parents DO. You know what's sad?? Somewhere inside --- those kids know too and it CHEATS them of the experience tehy are supposed to get. It's why these folks are weak individually.

I thought by listing some of our activities you could see that we are not 'disgruntled campers.' AT ALL. We do very well in fair competitions we enjoy participating in. We like sports where cheating is tough to get away with. Bring your mind and guts kinda stuff. Finding if they can't cheat they'll buy a ref or train their own. LOL !! Isn't that sad???

This stuff with litle league shut-outs -- saving the seats in major leagues is reminiscent of NFL showcasing those joining the Army on football Sunday. Tons of these kids are just there so that their 'family' will get to reap the GI benefits.

NOT their blood-relations, mind you. The family company.

Just like pro athletes are NOT keeping a pile of money. It's taken back from them in many ways. Giving to the GOP, the agent, the Make a Wish, their personal appearances for this mobbed up thing or another, creating headlines for our amusement to break up our shopping trips --- many are gamblers --- yeah, I think we've figured out where THAT money goes. LOL. Thanks Abramoff and Bush.

So, it's no real surprise that there are many criminals currently found in the Armed Forces and Major League Sports, is it? It's the new standard. Over the last seven (and LONGER) years, corruption (errrr the NEOCON) has sloughed and covered every element of society, choking out even the innocence of youth sports and competing at real life. They don't WANT to compete; just take the money and run.

And, that's just not right.

Take it all back and fix it.
Take it away from them because it's OURS, too.

We have all these 'tight-knit' cheap-zorro-set neighborhoods in Tampa now, houses so close you could PEE in your neighbors' dining room from your own. (okay, I couldn't) BUT, you never see a group of kids in all these NEW 'green spaces' (thanks again, george and pam) playing a pick-up game of ball.

Why not?

I'll tell you in my unforgivable way:

The truth would be OUT about who belongs in competition and who doesn't.

They can buy their way, ostracize, murder, cheat, shut out and keep it all for themselves but the simple thing is: They'd LOSE if they didn't cheat.

They are PAPER THIN.

Take back what's yours.

You don't have to be mean about it. Just calmly and politely reclaim your world.

Let them have back the sliminess of the rocks they slithered out from under.
