Dear Hillsborough County Precinct Committeeman/woman:
As a result of the discussions that took place during the statewide Florida Democratic Party (FDP) conference call on 11/18/2008, in which HCDEC Chair Michael Steinberg, Credentials Chair Jackie Beiro, and State Committeeman Monroe Mack participated, and due to the large attendance expected at the December 1st , 2008 meeting, and the number of newly elected Precinct Committeemen/women, this second mailing was recommended to cover the following:
LOYALTY OATHS: Each member is being mailed a Loyalty Oath with the understanding that it must be properly filled out and turned in at the time you sign-in and pick up your ballot to vote on December 1, 2008. No individual will be permitted to vote or participate in the organizational meeting until a Loyalty Oath has been executed. No exceptions. A properly executed Loyalty Oath must be signed in the presence of a notary. For those needing a notary, the HCDEC will have several on hand at the meeting. A Democratic Loyalty Oath may be completed before the meeting, however, you will need to arrive early to have it notarized. Otherwise you will not be able to sign-in and vote.
PROXIES: If possible, proxies should be submitted to the Credentials Committee at least 24 hours prior to the election so that the Credentials Committee is able to verify that the proxy holders are eligible to vote. The original proxy must have an original signature (no faxes accepted) and submitted to the Credentials Committee. The HCDEC's executed Democratic Loyalty Oath must accompany the proxy.
VOTING MEMBERS ARE REMINDED TO:
Arrive at 6:00pm or earlier so as to complete the necessary paperwork prior to the meeting.
Review the contents of your Official Election of Officers paperwork.
Any recently elected Precinct Committeeman/woman is eligible to run for any office available (Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, State Committeeman, State Committeewoman). Each office is filled individually and no member has any obligation to anyone to be a part of any slate to run for any office.
The FDP Charter and HCDEC Bylaws mandate that each voter sign his/her own ballot. Each person running for office may appoint a representative to confirm the votes. Candidates and members will not be able to review the votes of individual electors, however, these votes are public record and may be made available for review through FDP.
Finally, we do expect to have a smooth, orderly and fair election. As was approved by the HCDEC Steering Committee, a uniformed Police Officer has been employed to assure that no one challenges us from having a smooth, orderly and fair election.
