Dusting Off "Inherent Contempt"

So --- here's a list of the subpoenas ignored by the Bush admin. (so Nixonian) I blogged about this the other day how if you or I ignored a subpoena ... okay, lemme rephrase that: We (you and I) may NOT ignore a subpoena. We can fight or delay but .... When you tell someone who is an officer of the court who your witnesses are and they subpoena them, IF the witness does not then show up, LEO is then enabled to find and deliver them. Forcibly if necessary and then they would be 'hostile witnesses'. Whatever --- they must still obey the subpoena.

Apparently, George Bush and cabal believe themselves to be above the law.

Now George Bush is behaving just like Nixon, and Democrats should once again introduce Articles of Impeachment.

Note: those who believe Congressional subpoenas that are delivered to the White House will be enforced by Federal courts are sadly mistaken. Congress must ask the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia to enforce their subpoenas - but all of the U.S. Attorneys have been thoroughly corrupted by the Bush Administration. The only way Congress can enforce its subpoenas is through the little-known process of "inherent contempt" in which "the individual is brought before the House or Senate by the Sergeant-at-Arms, tried at the bar of the body, and can be imprisoned."

This "inherent contempt" diary over at Daily Kos is the work of a guy I met at Camp Democracy. He and I had a quick and dirty in depth conversation about George Bush and verbatim finished each others' sentences, nodding the whole time. For a direly serious conversation, it still stands out as one of the most enjoyable, soul to soul conversations I've ever had with a near-stranger. So impressed was I by him (note we DO think alike) that I intro'd myself and made it a point to look up his name again later on the schedule so I could remember him and watch for him. Little did I know at the time that I was so honored to shake hands with Kagro X. Seriously, this guy ..... just TRY to keep up with him. Smart. Determined. Focused. Doin' it.
I was also extremely impressed with former federal prosecutor Elizabeth de la Vega
who was also present at Camp Democracy.

She is helping to build the case against the Con-Man-Der in Chief. Tomorrow I'll link to her persuasive texts on this subject. Brilliant woman and ardent citizen who gave her heart to America.




Bush, Nixon was smarter. He just resigned. Just resign. We want you out of our Whitehouse and are pursuing every legal, peaceful means to achieve this end. BUT, my FAVORITE part of "inherent contempt" makes me laugh aloud and regret that I have not taken the time to work on my letters to 'george in orange'.
