I kinda like the IDEA of people

I have changed. I know that much is obvious.

It's not just the personal events from 1998 onward but the year 2000 and especially 2004 and then Barack emerging as the 'chosen one' but you know .. not even much piping up about FREE SPEECH ZONES.
Even Pam Iorio had a word to say about that.

Anyway ... so I managed to put myself into the car and tarry over to the 'funraiser' for the adorable Kathy Castor. Even her husband is well-mannered. Adorable children who would probably be anywhere BUT. I feel that.

I'm not really a hob-nobber. Or a power-grabber. I did my time there and hung those days out to dry. The only reason I would consider going in TO politics would be because I can't get a person to do what I consider to be the right things.

I really like honesty. I did call ahead because after noon it turned into a ... 'well, I'll pop in but don't want to and wonder if it's okay to wear jeans??' Sure, that is PERFECT. Okay. Well, not so much. I'm still okay with that. I used to be the most over-dressed person in the room sometimes so being the only one NOT in a suit; I can handle that.

It was the other stuff. I'm not a Barack fan. I can't even muster up warm feelings towards him most days. Everywhere was Barack stuff for sale. NOW, I realize I read it wrong. It was a funraiser for the DEM party. Frankly, I'm not real down with the local dem party. Many of them look like nice people. Not one of them had a word to say to me other than a guy who handed me a Kevin Beckner card. That's okay. I read his stuff. He didn't sound that much different than the other guy. BUT, given the other guy is an asshole and having an old tampa boy in there hasn't done most of us any good. Might as well give kevin a shot but that's the sad story.

WHY?

Why does it have to be the lesser of two evils? It's really a turn off.

So, between the loss of my wingman, the atmosphere, the barack sale and the kinda large crowd who weren't interested in anything other than meeting Kathy --- I kinda just was glad I had to go very quickly, anyway.

I got my feet wet.

The truth is that I'm just not crazy about that many people anymore. I like the idea of them and I'm willing to love anyone and think it's the only important rule .... but it wouldn't kill the Dem party to have a few people floating around with no agenda and so that people can have a person to hide beside when they're not hangers-on.

It's asking too much, I know.

So, after I realized it was a 'write a check' for the HCDEC I was happy to realize it was time to go. Almost. I could have stayed ten more minutes.

I can always send Kathy money.

I thought it would be more interesting than that. It looks like the same people who only know each other and aren't really that interested in meeting new people.

I know ... I know ... shaddup already.

I don't support Barack Obama. I saw three or four Hillary stickers in the parking lot so I KNOW there had to be folks in there who I am simpatico with. I even saw some kerry/edwards stickers.

I have a new formula. I don't even care if the person is in another state. I'm not supporting anyone who I would be embarrassed if someone looked online and saw MY grandpa's (and mine)
name beside a contribution for them.

And, so, there you have it.

All that build up.

I've BEEN a banker. All that looking up. LOL. You know, in my bank it was a given. If no one died; no one would be promoted.

I'm not a banker anymore.

And, I'll have to look harder at the local Dem party before I invest too much time.

I'm rambling ....

At least I got my feet wet.

Next time I'll actually try to stay.

But< I won't be writing any checks to Barack Obama.

My least favorite Women open up the DNC

Well, today I was planning on going to a funraiser for Democratic Congresswoman Kathy Castor but ... you know, someone else thought it would be a great idea to go to the beach. Given the circumstances, I'm just probably not going to go without my backup .... you know, everyone has their favorite wingman and now mine is quite uselessly at the beach with the tiny carney folks.

That's cool. They're loveable if nothing else. And they keep people good company when their mamas die. I mean, for awhile. Been through that with my sister so yeah, I'm barkin up your tree, honey.

At any rate ... I reallllly wanted to go to this. I might still. I feel good, I was going to go pick up my fave outfit from the cleaners and polish up my shoes and hit the bricks for Kathy. I'm just not feelin it because my plans included my wingman. Oddly enough this beach thing came up and so ..... well, I stopped feeling it. Who likes to go without their wingman? Oh, I mentioned that. People trippin on each other all tryin to be so helpful and all. Maybe charm school? Acting?

Somethin'. I love yall. I do. But, you're mainly just irritating which isn't helping matters any.

At any rate, I was trying to talk myself into going to kathy's funraiser AGAIN got the card in my car and all ... invited by the top socialist of the party and if you don't think that's where the dems and obama are taking you well you've got life all IN a blender.

All that freedom is scary to these folks. You know, someone might make more money than them, slip out from under the old thumb and take control. That's why they MUST keep things in order.

Then, how depressing is THIS?

Thank you for contacting my office with your opposition to the war in Iraq . I share your concerns and will continue to work to end the disastrous policies that needlessly leave our service men and women in harm's way. The Bush administration continues to claim support for the troops even as it extends their deployments, separates them from their families, and under funds their veterans' benefits and health care services.

As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I have participated in hours of hearings related to military operations and the global threats to our national security. Based upon this information and testimony from some of our highest ranking Commanders, I am convinced that President Bush's Iraq war has put us in a "strategic risk" in regards to any other global defense challenge. It is time for a new direction in Iraq . President Bush should begin to move our forces out of the middle of this civil war. He must make the Iraqi political leadership aware that our commitment is not open ended. American troops cannot resolve Iraqi sectarian and religious power struggles. Only Iraqis can find the political resolution required to stabilize Iraq . I take my responsibility seriously and appreciate your input.

I have committed to a change in our mission in Iraq from combat to training, logistics, and force protection. Thank you for contacting me regarding this issue of great concern to our community and to all Americans.
