Mainly I am sticking this here because I've tried to post it THERE (CL)in reply to Wayne's article Fire EM (yeah YEAH FIRE EM RECALL ME FAIRE EM) three times, each one supposedly successfully ... and yeah, it'll probably show up over there (three times) as soon as I link it up here.

This is merely an unpolished comment (LOL) because I'm going to slip in my thought on this tax debate because others are very determined to have their say. Among those, I do not number Wayne Garcia .... though this was a pretty good try ... all know I have a soft spot for Wayne and think him very cool. Whatever he thinks of me is up to him. LOL. Or someone.
I DO fault the St Pete Times for their egregious coverage of this tax matter. But, mainly they are written for darkside New Yorkers BY Dark Side New Yorkers (and Chicagoans from the darks or metro side)Currently. Currently. Yeah, we know. You're pissed because you get jacked on taxes while your long-term Florida resident neighbors have a better deal. That is NOT their fault that you moved here. Stop pointing fingers, lil johnny and PAY YOUR FAIR SHARE. WE voted in OUR fair share.....

I agree with most of what you say except that tax thingy. Fairness is well and good but these folks moving in here and redeveloping perfectly good homes in to mcmansions they KNOW what they are getting in to. It's framing it too simply to call it 'same size houses on same street'. To imply that it's better to change a law for 'newcomers' and to 'reverse shell shock' others is incorrect. (in my opinion, of course)
This is not just a bill that relieved elderly voters many of whom would be dead now, anyway. THIS is a law which protects Tampa residents from being jacked through the ceiling. It's really NOT my fault that someone else doesn't want to pay the tax bill they were fully appraised of. To start pointing the finger at a neighbor with a better deal is sandlot hijinx. There are no easy answers but jacking ME or others in my situation is NOT one. People are looking for tax relief by screwing somene else because they don't want to pay the taxes they knew were coming when they climbed in their lexus and headed here. Too bad. Maybe handle it on an individual basis but there is definitely a need to consider this in a two-tier manner. Not just revoke and give it away to the new guy. They're trying to to tax 'certain' out of Florida without paying the piper they owe. I don't call 'not fair' but I see it. Anyhoooooo otherwise a good call to action.
