Save an Anti War Republican??

If congressional voting in 2007 on the war in Iraq proves one thing, it is this:
Democrats need substantial Republican support in Congress to end the war.
Rep. Wayne Gilchrest of Maryland is a Republican who has voted to bring U.S. troops home over and over again. Now the GOP is trying to punish Gilchrest by defeating him in a primary election being held in just one month.
If Gilchrest loses, it will be extremely difficult to encourage other Republican defections.
Gilchrest needs our help to defeat conservative hawk State Rep. Andy Harris. Click here to contribute.
While Gilchrest initially supported the Iraq war, he quickly came to regret this vote. What I failed to consider was whether the executive branch was competent, informed, and had integrity, he says. Under the circumstances, I don't think it was.
Gilchrest now vigorously opposes the war and has voted to withdraw U.S. troops as quickly as is feasible. Please donate to Gilchrest's campaign for Congress.
Harris says Gilchrest's votes against the war are the reason he is running against him. Harris is backed by Republicans who want to see anti-war Gilchrest replaced with a George W. Bush supporter. Polls show the race is neck and neck.
Gilchrest is a rare creature in Washington DC these days a moderate Republican who votes his conscience. He has encouraged diplomacy with Iran, promoted environmental protection for the Chesapeake Bay, opposed NRA attempts to loosen restrictions on gun shows, and called the Pentagon's Don't Ask Don't Tell policy ludicrous.
Whoever wins this primary will certainly win in November, as the district is overwhelmingly Republican. The only way to encourage more Republicans to vote against the war is to help Gilchrest win the February primary.

First lady lauds Tampa for preservation
TAMPA -- First lady Laura Bush has designated Tampa as one of the country's newest Preserve America Communities.
The recognition honors the city for its historic preservation rules, along with community efforts to protect historic resources and educational programs that promote Tampa's past. The application for the designation highlighted, among other things, Plant Hall at the University of Tampa, the Tampa Bay History Center, and Ybor City, one of Florida's few national historic districts.
Tampa joins a handful of other Florida cities that have received the designation in the past, including St. Petersburg, Miami, Dunedin, Kissimmee and Sanford.

I look around at all these pimps and hookers who have descended on the Tampa Bay area. Don't get me wrong, loved ones. I have nothing against a woman making a living however she can. I DO have a problem with a man making money off it. (hint) As well, I DO have a problem with their dual careers as too many of them are also doing advertising, blogging and writing for the dailies, both news wise and alternate wise. Not to mention what has slithered into the law enforcement and on to the tv screen and into the back of paramedic death boxes sunstar paramedic style. I also have a problem with the selective drug-busting and outing prostitutes and customers while others are operating with the full cooperation and protection of the Tampa Fire Dept and the Hillsborough County Sheriff and the Tampa Police Dept and those elite-in-their mind graduates of the different schools we went together to in Pampa FL.

I would also like everyone in Tampa to have CLEAN FRESH water NOW. MAKE IT QUICK, MURDERERS. It's the only time I'm asking....

Because I've ALWAYS known the value of my lil piece of the Pampa Rock while others labored under the impression that it would be like taking candy from a baby (how's that working out for your murderers?) I have saved anything about gambling in Florida that ever came my way. I still have the campaign sign from the most recent VOTE DOWN of gambling in Florida. Three times since 1978, you know. But, there are the selfish pigs for whom living off a woman's ass is not enough. They want MORE. It's not like gambling is FUN for most gamblers. I suspect it's a control thing .... or an addiction at some point or any number of troubling scenarios. Myself: give me a lighter and a heap of fifties. I'd sooner set my fucking dinero alight and watch the pretty colors rather than hang around a bunch of saucer-eyed freaks listening to the casino employees whisper about who they 'should let win'. Because, yeah, that IS how it happens.

I don't know how people DEAL with all of their life being a frigging set up. Like football is played honestly. Like those exciting clutch plays are not choreographed. Like Nascar is ... uh real. (sorry ... it's true -- enjoy it if you will but it's all bullshit) I forgive all of that because one of my most brilliant friends is a total football, nascar freak .... claims those special camera shots are interesting to him from an engineering POV. ummkay. Seriously, when I am in the mood for people-watching .... there ain't nothin like the live entertainment of a football game. geez. They posed it as though Florida would lose out because of the deal the Interior Dept was making with the Seminoles. OH MY GOD. Okay, one question: Who appointed that interior dept asshole secretary?? Right. Who was gale norton??? Yeah, she was the fucking PIECE OF SHIT that opened up florida's pristine water for drilling. Then after that damage was done she took her ass home or to another lateral position in the bush toilet and here comes mr. hi =ho indian gambling deal maker. So, that's TWO BLOWS from the brothers bush for good ol sunny former paradise, FlorEEDUH. AND, for the seminoles .. huh. Hope ya like what ya got for your goddamn wampum trade of the prairies. You SHOULD have held out for something REAL for your people but greed takes the day AGAIN. Well ... carry on.

Hopefully, we'll still have enough decent people left to outlaw gambling again by 2020. Fucking century later.

This state and its residents are facing serious economic challenges in 2008, but the amendment on the Jan. 29 ballot is not the answer.
The amendment would double the $25,000 homestead exemption and allow homeowners to take up to $500,000 in Save Our Homes benefits with them when they move. But state economists this month cut the amount they project the amendment would save taxpayers over five years by 25 percent. The main reason: Far fewer homeowners are expected to move even with the new tax breaks. So even though this amendment primarily benefits taxpayers who theoretically need the least help -- homeowners with homestead exemptions and Save Our Homes benefits - the changes are not enough to ease the housing crisis and revive the state economy.

An unfair property tax system undoubtedly contributes to the stalled housing market, but other factors may be more significant. Housing prices around Tampa Bay and elsewhere soared too high too fast, and the median sales price of a single family home in the last year has dropped 14 percent in Pinellas, 18 percent in Pasco and a more modest 5 percent in Hillsborough. Now too many recent homebuyers find their houses are worth less than their mortgages -- and many of those mortgages had adjustable rates that are scheduled to rise. The number of foreclosures are setting records. The property tax amendment is not going to help homeowners who bought more house than they could afford and now can't sell.

First, the housing supply far outstrips demand. As the New York Times recently reported on the situation in the Fort Myers area, once one of the fast-growing in the country, more than 19,000 single-family homes and condos are on the market. Investors are leaving behind vacant houses, and builders are slashing prices and stopping work in developments that aren't finished. But even if prices are falling back to Earth, the subprime mortgage mess has tightened the entire mortgage market. It is much more difficult for many to obtain home loans they once would have easily gotten with few questions asked.

There are many good reasons to vote against the property tax amendment. It provides little help to businesses and owners of second homes or investment properties who need the most relief. Instead of creating a fairer property tax system it adds to the unfairness by allowing Save Our Homes benefits to be taken to a new home. And even with its projected reduced savings, the amendment still would cut funding for education and local government exactly as their revenues will be dropping because of other tax reforms and the slumping economy.

But perhaps the most important reason to reject the amendment may be the easiest one to grasp: It won't solve Florida's real estate problems. Remember that as the governor and the amendment's other supporters crank up their sales pitches after New Year's.

This is a fair good article on what's going down in New Hampshire. I haven't let go of the sinking feeling that Oprah Winfrey has chosen the next Resident of the united states of america. It's kinda more than coincidental that he is the senator from Illinois which begs a new question:

What came first? Oprah or Obama? (please note the 'virtually no national name recognition before 2004 and then suddenly he was EVERYWHERE)

Anyway, I didn't read the article word for word but other than I did NOT catch any magic from Obama and there are a few other troubling things I have read about him ....

Ever since I got hold of the Oprah creating Obama idea I haven't let it go. It's really too late to do anything about that now but watch for it in the future.

haven't checked the returns yet. Today have been fairly amused at and eyeballing the advances of the Tampa Fire Dept and their children. Whom they apparently decided to RE-WHORE out in celebration of 2008. Happy New Year !!! Most of their other losers ride bicycles which OH HELL YEAH I have on videotape a firefighter (tampa loser) buying one of their runners a bicycle. Not even NEW. Thrift (nother word for forced out or murdered out of your home) store. Cheap swine. Anyway .. wow three in one day. The scent of your desperation grows stronger. Also, the online threats. Geez guys. Get a freakin life. SEND your smartest person around. Seriously. Please do so. The threats only make your life harder. And, they're stupid. Most of them surely I miss. Whoosh straight over my head !!
