Is Oprah Choosing the Next President???

i REALLY have to wonder. I have long noted that Oprah doesn't appear to be much more progressive than most of the ladies over to 'the view'.

I used to watch Oprah. Long about the time she started that stuff with weight she disappeared from my horizon. That's exactly what ANYONE does not need. Another celebrity focused on the appearance of their body and detailing the struggles to lose weight. Like to make it normal and acceptable. I think it would be WONDERFUL if JUST ONE OF THEM would display that it's okay for people to ACCEPT THEMSELVES. Eat properly, enjoy life, exercise .... there is NO perfect body shape.

Folks are born as ectomorphs and endomorphs. Small or large. Some people who are overweight are really not gluttons or 'unable to diet', oprah. They just ARE. It's their body type. Healthy folks come in all sizes. That was my first issue with Oprah.

THEN, she did a segment (this was right in the tail end of when I stopped watching and listening to Oprah) on keeping children safe ... Oprah used to come on at four, I think. So, I was there early from work with the young people in the family and others of extended family with their young because we thought ... 'keep them safe'. I barely made it through the program.

Oprah was busy instilling fear in the hearts of parents. The whole 'get them finger-printed' dealie. I'm very VERY against this. YOu need fingerprints for a dead body. NOT for preventing or ... well, anyway -- oprah started to remind me of the govmint. (stand back, we're here to help) as they proceed to fuck up everything they touch.

Then there were the car giveaways, the refusal to even QUESTION the govmint version of Sept.11, 2001 and other things. The quickly hushed 'bad items' that would pop up concerning same.

The biggest one that stands out in my mind was the book club and all the fucking drama over it. I don't WANT Oprah telling the rest of America what's good to read. That's way too much fucking power for ONE person. It smells like 'education ala bush' to me. Not saying that's what it was but it made me very uncomfortable. About as much as Morey doing 'who's your baby's daddy.'. SICK.

Then she came out for Obama and I said 'uh oh' .... all the folks who are reading what Oprah say and doing what oprah do and going on and off fad diets with oprah and stedman are going to get behind a guy who, as far as I can tell, is not progressive. I get the feeling Oprah would have supported him no matter WHAT party he was running for.

He DOES talk a good game. But, I'm just not buying it. I saw him. I liked him some prior to seeing him in person. I kept waiting for him to say something that I could HOLD ON TO. Nothing. Iconic phrases with pauses for applause.

I read John Edwards' speeches and I like what I read....

Sunny has a very good post on this over at Smashed Frog. She and I disagree on what the numbers tell us BUT she does a very good breakdown of what happened number wise.

I'm thinking the number of the new caucus goers supporting obama are indicative of the influence that oprah is having on this election.

I'm fully supportive of Sunny and hopeful that if Obama DOES get elected he will prove me wrong. I feel very strongly that he won't. It's not a color thing. I loved Jesse Jackson TOO until he disappointed us all. I love Martin Luther King with a passion that causes me to memorize entire speeches the man gave and to silence the entire room if I get a chance to hear his voice. I loathe Condosleeza in a healthy fashion on level with her disregard for our constitution ... I didn't HAVE to see Hillary Clinton in person to loathe her. I LOVE Chris Dodd despite the fact that he's merely handsome not HOT. I like Bill Clinton but still believe he and wifey are complicit criminals. I don't judge on color and other criteria, I barely notice it. I look for how it makes me FEEL when the person speaks, emotes or acts. Actions speak louder than words ... he leaves me cold. I won't go into detail about local pols and their husbands/wives who ... leave me cold. I either feel it or I don't. I feel it for John Edwards which shocked me. And, not for Barack Obama which also surprised me. I do LOATHE Harriet Myers. It's not a color/gender/persuasion thing with me. It's just .... HE's NOT THE ONE.

I'm just stunned at the revelation that kucinich would back obama over edwards. He might as well have thrown his support behind hillary to get in good with me. Surprising and pretty much disappointed in kucinich now.

I think Obama must really have been good at playing 'survivor'.

That's what I think. Lots of survivor winners are not the nicest people you could hope to know. Just wily and good at playing folks off each other.

Not to be a sore loser but I'm extremely disappointed.

I'll close by saying that I probably WOULD support him .... but .... I don't think he's the change that everyone is hoping for.

I'm actually more supportive of John Edwards for a reason I didn't really realize until Sinfonian said so.

I really like Elizabeth. She turns me on. Obama's wife?? Same feeling. Leaves me cold.

I begin to toy with the idea that oprah found obama and set him on this path. Just like an unknown author and now the MSM can't mention the democrats but his name goes FIRST. No reason for that ... it's not even alphabetical. Just the illusion planted that he's first. IF it were alphabetical it would be clinton edwards obama. They generally phrase it obama clinton edwards.

Oprah???
