Lindsay Beyerstein calls on Chertoff

I'm not sure how much coverage this is getting. I am TV-NOT. So, I first read about this on Wednesday at Majikthise.

I think it's a really GOOD THING that some are insisting on seeing the photos of a (wannabe Julie Myers) high-ranking ICE (Bush recess appt. confirmation currently on HOLD LOL) official who, along with other high-ranking DHS officials; awarded a DHS employee for most 'original' costume at a recent small soiree' of DHS mucketies.

The costume consisted of braids, black-face and prisoner attire. hmmmm

THEN, after the costumed employee was suspended over the incident, the photos of the suspended employee and the BUSH PICK to head up ICE were ummmm 'discarded.'

I want to see those pictures. also.

Two senators are now calling for answers to the obvious questions asked by Lindsay Beyerstein.

If Michael Chertoff is being honest when he says that he won't tolerate this kind of behavior in DHS, he will release the names of the other two judges and the contestant. He will also hand over the original digital media/negatives that captured the images, the hard drive of any PC that received images from a digital medium or scan, and any URLs where event pictures were posted. He will also release all the official pictures of the party that were deemed sufficiently inoffensive to make it into the record. (If he won't, we can probably FOIA them.) Finally, he will write out a meticulous timeline from the instant the images were exposed to the moment a spokesperson claimed images had been "discarded." If anything got lost, he will know when, why, and by whom--and explain it to the press and Congress.

If, for some reason, he can't deliver these simple things to the House and Senate committees that oversee Homeland Security by quitting time tomorrow, he should tender his resignation, because he's clearly unqualified to head the Department of Homeland Security.

UPDATE: Actually, allow me to rephrase the above a bit: (I am having a great deal of trouble with the blog today so am in the background taking some actions trying to correct it and so --- GRRR; it's gobbling up my time)


But, the deal is: Two senators are calling for answers. Lindsay is asking the RIGHT questions and framing the discussion correctly. Now, that's better.

So far I'm going back to where the problem started which seems to be some time after Impeachment. I'm saving my posts since then as drafts one by one thinking one of them caused the problem because if you look at some older posts from yesterday the blog still shows up right. Also, my page keeps trying to load some ad double click thing which snuck on here somewhere. All in all --GRRRR. I don't feel technical today and I had a lot to talk about that won't be as fun tomorrow. LOL.
But, maybe I'll still get to it. The usual slate of stuff to do but I do still have a couple of hours.
