AND I KNOW, FATHER, THAT IS JUST SOMETHING THAT WE ARE URGING ALL OF OUR YOUNG PEOPLE AS WELL AS EVERY CITIZEN OF HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY TO DO, AND IT'S SUCH AN UNFORTUNATE THING FOR SUCH A BEAUTIFUL, WONDERFUL LIFE TO BE TAKEN AT SUCH AN EARLY AGE, BUT MAY HIS LEGACY LIVE ON AND MAY THROUGH THIS TRAGEDY COME SOMETHING GOOD, AND WE PRAY THAT YOU WOULD COMFORT HIS FAMILY IN THIS TIME OF UNPRECEDENTED SORROW.
FATHER, WE ARE SO GRATEFUL FOR THOSE THAT PROTECT US EACH AND EVERY DAY, BOTH HERE AND ABROAD.

I WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR THIS PROCLAMATION CLAIMING THIS -- THIS WEEK AS "EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK."
APPROXIMATELY 85% OF FIRE RESCUE CALLS ARE EMERGENCY MEDICAL IN NATURE.
OUT OF THAT NUMBER, APPROXIMATELY 33,000, WE TRANSPORT THOSE -- THOSE PARTICULAR PATIENTS.
WE HAVE A TOTAL OF OVER 75,000 CALLS ON AN ANNUAL BASIS IT THAT FIRE RESCUE RESPONDS TO.
THE MEN AND WOMEN OF HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY FIRE RESCUE ARE DEDICATED IN PROVIDING THE MOST PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL CARE TO THE CITIZENS OF HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY.
THIS IS EMPHASIZED BY THE FACT THAT WE HAVE ALL OF OUR CAREER ENGINES AND SOME OF OUR VOLUNTEER ENGINES WITH PARAMEDICS ON THEM, WHICH PROVIDE AN ADDITIONAL SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF THIS COUNTY.

NANCY LEE McKAY SERVED AS CHAIRPERSON OF HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES COUNCIL FROM 1974 TO 1991.
MS. McKAY WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR ESTABLISHING A PROFESSIONAL EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES SYSTEM FOR HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY AND IS REMEMBERED AS THE MATRIARCH OF EMS IN HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY.
THE NANCY LEE McKAY WAS ESTABLISHED FOR THE PURPOSE OF RECOGNIZING A CAREER PARAMEDIC FOR EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMANCE IN THE EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY.
AT THIS TIME I'D LIKE TO CALL UP SOME INDIVIDUALS.

I DID HAVE A CORONARY, AND THEY REVIVED ME, GOT ME TO THE HOSPITAL ALL WITHIN 15 MINUTES, WHICH I'M CERTAIN SAVED MY LIFE.
ACTUALLY I HAVE FRIENDS FOR LIFE NOW, WHETHER THEY LIKE THAT OR NOT.

LIEUTENANT MICHAEL DILLING.
HE'S BEEN EMPLOYED WITH HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY FIRE RESCUE SINCE MAY OF 2004.
IN DECEMBER OF LAST YEAR, MICHAEL DILLING, WHO HAD NOT YET BEEN PROMOTED TO LIEUTENANT, WAS WORKING AS AN ACTING RESCUE OFFICER AT RESCUE 19, WHICH IS IN THE CARROLLWOOD AREA.
ALONG WITH ENGINE 42, WHICH IS ON EHRLICH ROAD, THEY RESPONDED TO A HEART ATTACK IN THE CARROLLWOOD VILLAGE NEIGHBORHOOD.
SHORTLY AFTER THEIR ARRIVAL, THE PATIENT SUFFERED CARDIAC ARREST AND HIS HEART STOPPED BEATING.
THIS WAS MR. HOLLY.
THE TEAM WAS ABLE TO RESUSCITATE HIM, THOUGH HE WOULD HAVE TO GO THROUGH TWO MORE CARDIAC ARRESTS, SO HE WENT INTO CARDIAC ARREST THREE TIMES WHILE OUR TEAM WAS TREATING HIM.
AGAIN, EACH TIME THE TEAM, UNDER THE DIRECTION OF MICHAEL DILLING, WAS ABLE TO RESUSCITATE HIM.
THE CREW ALERTED THE CARDIAC CENTER AND PERFORMED ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT MEASURES EN ROUTE, WHICH STABILIZED THE PATIENT.
THE PATIENT ARRIVED AT ST. JOSEPH'S HOSPITAL IN STABLE -- WITH A STABLE RHYTHM.
THE FOLLOWING MONTH MICHAEL WAS PROMOTED TO LIEUTENANT AND IS NOW IN CHARGE OF ONE OF OUR RESCUE UNITS, RESCUE NUMBER 4.
THE DEPARTMENT IS PROUD TO RECOGNIZE MICHAEL DILLING AS THE RECIPIENT OF THIS YEAR'S NANCY LEE McKAY PARAMEDIC OF THE YEAR AWARD.

Going to become a TAMPA FIREMAN

YES I AM.

I'm really OVER QUALIFIED. I have a safe driver's license, degree AND I've been to the gym more than for steroids .... BUT, what the hell??
IF someone pisses me off and I want to pull my semi-automatic handgun on them and threaten their life .... NO PROBLEM.

NO CRIMINAL CHARGES.

I got curious about this Nesmith matter after my post yesterday so I looked it up. No wonder I missed it. It was SMALL in the St Pete paper (he wasn't giving oxygen to kittens or whatev.....) which means the Tampa Trib probably did not even carry it. They're trying to put a moratorium on the bad news from the fire (STALKING) stations but that ain't going to happen.

Wow, this must make MRS. Nesmith feel safe and secure with a husband prone to drinking, arguing AND semiautomatic handgun possession.

That whole law about being able to bring your guns to work is in case it goes down while they're at work they can take up arms against all of us.

Which is why I'll never understand why anyone supports getting guns out of the hands of 'the people'. Think you're slaves NOW? LOL !!!

Fire chief suspended 2 days; no criminal charges in domestic dispute
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Chief Bill Nesmith will be suspended without pay for two days for violating a county policy which prohibits county employees from possessing firearms on county property, but he will not face criminal charges.
Nesmith, 59, has been on indefinite leave since March 3 after an investigation into a domestic assault complaint filed against him by his wife of four months. She accused him of threatening to shoot her and himself during an argument at their Indian Rocks Beach apartment in Pinellas County.
When Pinellas County Sheriff's Office deputies reported to the scene of the argument that first weekend in March, they found a semiautomatic pistol in Nesmith's county-issued vehicle.
Nesmith is scheduled to return to work Tuesday.

I'm very objective like that. So much so that it's really irritating to those that love me and have that deep sense of loyalty that allows them to overlook my faults.
