Nancy Bostock tries for an Intelligent Design
Laugh or cry? Where the HELL do they get these people??
This is the same lady (Nancy Bostock, Pinellas County School Board Marm)who wanted to dump her adopted kid back off ... and/OR have the state pay for his care in a group home while she visited on Sunday and patted herself on the back for being a great adoptive parent.
O'Shea worries that children who are taught creationism at home might be confused by evolution. And Bostock wonders if creationism could be taught without saying it's science.
Wayne Garcia had a GREAT piece on this subject in CL.
I did kindly suggest that she go and resign the school board and stay home and teach her adoptive child Intelligent Design .... OH OOPS, can't DO that.
Ya dropped him off in a group home and asked US to PAY FOR IT.
Wow, she freakin LOVES kids, eh?
Like most other school board members.
Apparently the kid had reason for trying to kill her. She was pushing her fundy Christian views on him and he couldn't take it anymore.
I don't believe he tried to kill her I'm just being myself.
Oh, you have to read the comments:
Ricky Baker's staff ridden hard and put up wet today.
Apparently there were comments that I missed. More's the pity they're a S T I T C H.
Hope mine makes it: DOUBTFUL.

Surely I misunderstood that any Pinellas School Board member is supporting the teaching of ID in science classrooms. They need to do their homework on the subject. How does one recall a board member anyway?

Nothing is proven. Not science, not religion. And teaching is much different than enstilling. I'd have a big problem if evolution was being practiced at school...

Evolution is a theory accepted by many and ID is a theory accepted by many. No one is talking about teaching the Bible. So all you Bible-phobes need to step out of your boxes and calm down. Are you afraid of a little balance in the debate?

There are about 10,000 distinct religions in the world. So if "fairness" (from the neo-con perspective) were important, teaching creationism (regardless of what you call it) as an alternative to reality (oops, science)would take all available time.

I recommend that anyone who wishes to learn more about the ID/evolution debate, please watch the PBS/NOVA special on the subject. After watching, any board member still supporting ID DESERVES to be the laughing stock of the nation.

Hello modern world. Why would some elected school board members want to bring their religious bias into our science classrooms? Careful, you may go extinct like the school board members who were not re-elected in Kansas and Dover, Pennsylvania.

Please don't stop with just teaching ID. Lets teach alchemy with chemistry, astrology with astronomy, and witchcraft with physics. Ya, we need a well balanced curriculum so all kids can make up their own minds. We know more than any scientist!

Evolution is a scientiic theory. ID is a religious belief. Teach science in science class. Teach religion somewhere that does not have legally required attendance and is not funded by my tax dollars.

I'm always amused when someone pets her Siamese cat, eats beef and wheat, mows her St. Augustean grass, and bets on horse races--and then denies the existence of evolution.

There is much confusion regarding the nature of "fact" vs "theory" Evolution is a theory that is based on (supported by) facts. Intelligent Design is a faith-based theory that has no verifiable, measurable, supporting evidence that can be tested.

One example is the human eye. The components integral to full function could only occur ["evolve"] simultaneously; without one component, the eye is rendered incomplete and natural selection would abandon the process. There's a huge amount of serious

First, science class is for science, not religious beliefs. Also, whose belief's would you teach? Earth created by Sun God, Xenu Alian, Zeus... Pick your religion and go to their church. School is for theories based on evidence.

Please do your homework on ID. At minimum read "Darwin's Black Box" written by Michael Behe,1995, prof. of microbiology at Leheigh in PA. The premise is that all organisms have irreducibly complex systems forwhich mere chance and time can't account

For example, Gravity is a theory. So is evolution. If you don't believe in evolution, stop taking antibiotics or getting a flu shot. u get a flu shot every year because the flu virus EVOLVES a resistance to previous drugs.

My children have and are currently attending a Catholic High School, where God forbid, evolution is taught. Its ironic that this religion associated school is more in tone with science than the public school system seems to be

Where is the scientific proof of ID? No one has been able to give any in any debates that I have seen, so ?Nathan, you would be the first...Kerry, ID is NOT a theory. Evolution IS...Jim, are you serious? Wow. This has been answered. Google. Go look.

I hope those against ID realize that there is scientific proof for it. In fact there are many more examples to prove ID (scientifically) than evolution. I wonder why this is never mentioned? I suppose it's much easier to just call us Jesus Freaks.

Why is "being forced" if we are teaching it as evolution - it is also being forced - say you have a child who believes in ID - you are forcing the evolution on them - so what is the difference?

I agree with James. If you don't believe in God and Jesus, then you should be at work on the 25th instead of taking it off to celebrate the birth of Jesus. You can't have it both ways.

In the spirit of education AND science, shouldn't ALL theories be presented for evaluation and discussion? No one is saying that one over the other has to be taught as the absolute fact! Exposing just to evolution as bad as just exposing to creation!

Teach evelution. Our kids deserve to know the truth. The Sun doesn't revolve around the Earth. The Earth is not flat. Religious superstition has no place in places of enlightenment & education. Teach our children science, not superstition.

Unbelievable, these ladies want to take us back to the pioneer days. School is for science, math, language, and social studies instruction so we become rational citizens. It is not a place for indoctrination. Forcing faith defies what faith is.

Evolution should be taught in science class. Creationism could be taught in a comparative religion class BUT NOT in science class. Europeans are growing increasingly alarmed at how the US is drifting backwards, and now I am too!
